Summer as a Reactive Dog Photographer, and I didn't even mention the weather once!

What have you been up to this summer?

Bonus points if it included your dogs!

Considering this lad can sometimes have big feelings about strangers, he absolutely smashed the assignment ❤️

Is your Dog nervous of, or reactive towards, strangers?

This kind of unbound joy can be captured, no matter where you are in your reactivity journey.

The reactive dog protocol is a framework that supports every anxious and reactive dog that steps in front of my lens.

Are you ready for your dog's personality to shine through?

Dogric, because he's lush.

---
..and because I showed this image to 𝓑𝓔𝓐𝓡🐻 and Willow while we were planning their experience and discussing location types last night.

We (virtually) travelled several counties in our planning, with ideas in Dumfries and Galloway, the Lake District, Stirling, and Northumberland before settling on a location I took Poppy to by accident once in Perthshire 👀

---

Luckily, the handsome Dogric is relatively close to me, so I get to see him more often, but where in the UK (or the world) would you send me?

I had a great time watching Mothra practice her gundog skills ❤️

---

Portrait, Action, Connection and Candid images are all captured on experience, but I also have special shot requests from clients, and Mothra's Dad requested some gundog specific images.

---

Mothra is doing really well, and at this point had just turned 1 ❤️

---

What hobbies, sports or special interests would you request included in your experience? 📸

Thinking about shady walks and cool streams, and R***r absolutely smashing it out of the park ❤️

For a lad that sometimes feels a bit weird about new folk, he took being in front of the camera, and meeting me in person, in his stride.

---

Have a stranger danger dog and wish you could have stunning images like these? Well you can! Just send me a message.

The right activities help regulate the nervous system, reduce arousal, and create emotional stability. Unlike high‑energy games that can increase adrenaline, calming enrichment supports the dog’s ability to self‑soothe.

--

1. Slow Sniff‑Based Foraging
2. Lick‑Based Activities for Self‑Soothing
3. Slow‑Movement Body Awareness Games
4. Predictable Pattern Games
5. Calm Chewing

Watching this little pipsqueak blossom as confident, intelligent and energy-filled little lady is an absolute privilege.

---

This was her third time in front of the camera, and she did not falter - except that little bit when she thought Auntie Debs was trying to pup-nap her 🤣.

---

I cannot what to see what her next milestones bring, and if she grows into her ears!

Living with an anxious dog changes you.

--

You begin to anticipate triggers before they happen. You scan the environment the way your dog does. You plan walks around quiet times, avoid busy places, and brace yourself for the unexpected.

--

Guardians of anxious or reactive dogs report higher levels of stress, social isolation, and emotional fatigue. Many describe feeling “on edge,” mirroring the very behaviours their dogs display.

--

Your dog is lucky to have you and you deserve support too
