I'll take three chill protocols and a chimps dose of pre-med please 😬

This tickled me 🫣

I was talking with Yaz .pooches YESTERDAY about the cooperative care we were doing with Poppy around hand injections, just as good practice, but also because she is showing more pain and soreness than previously, so more imaging might be beneficial.

And Yaz asked about chill protocol, and got a retelling of this reel 😂.

Shiva, with a twist 👀

Shiva's image has been awarded a bronze in the Image of the Month competition

--

Kinda shocked, kinda bemused, very pleased.

I do not shoot with competition in mind, ever, I shoot for you the client, and to capture the personality of your dog.

Can I tell you what I did to 'make' this award winning? Nope.

Can I tell you how much fun we had on this experience and how much her parents love the images? Yes!

I had the absolute honour to deliver Kizzi's wall art this morning.

---

This is a 20" x 16" piece of wall art - her wonderful guardians said this is exactly how they remember her - always curious and wanting to see what's going on.

---

Her Mum also had this BTS shot which after some deliberation we decided had to be the point this image was captured.

---

I really do get to work with some amazing dogs and their families - and to be able to hand over this wall art meant another part of Kizzi is coming home.

As Jane said, they cannot go back and take more of her - so every last image they have of her is priceless.

---

A big shout out to Jane too for Maybe's lightning fast round in her agility grade yesterday 🥳

(Maybe is Kizzi's youngest sibling 🤣)

The newest model on the block 🤩

---

This absolute stunner joins a family or top models - willingly or reluctantly, they are all fantastic at it 🤣

---

I cannot wait to watch her grow, and we will be documenting her development over the coming months, and seeing exactly what type of dog model (and very loved family member) she plans to be.

---

So far she has shown herself to be confident around the camera, she has an instinct for where to put herself for the best framing, and has decided my boots make a great pillow ❤️

WoofWag Festival is calling, and we’re packing up all the fun for this Saturday. (Okay so I didn't fully unpack from my last event 🫣)

---

Expect on‑the‑day portraits, action shots, and the wonderfully messy magic of coloured powder.

We’ll also have outdoor experience offers available for anyone wanting to take their adventure a little further.

---

I’m also doing a talk filled with my go‑to tips for creating a relaxed, joyful photography experience, the kind where your dog feels like the star they already believe they are.

---

If you’re wandering around the festival, come find us. I’ll be the one on the floor covered in coloured powder!

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis Awareness Day 💙

--

ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis or encephalopathy), also known as ME/CFS, is a multisystemic disease involving the brain, muscle, immune and neuroendocrine (hormone producing) systems.

It has significant life-limiting and/or life-threatening potential, particularly due to the lack of awareness/knowledge, time to diagnosis, and some practitioner's denial of the condition.

It disproportionately impacts biological females, and it is thought to increase inflammation in the brain, spinal cord and muscles - impacting the signalling ability of the body.

--

I began experiencing increased fatigue and post-exertional malaise (PEM) around my 21st birthday - particularly noticeable while on holiday with Lewis in March 2015.

--

There are several proposed 'causes' of ME, but we have never managed to identify or isolate my root cause.

--

I have been sent to five different specialisms within the NHS - all of which found the individual system they work with to be functioning no bother, and I regularly have 'normal' labs - before being referred to the ME clinic. This was 12-18 months per specialism and ME clinic due to referral and report wait times, and having to constantly instigate the investigation process again after each 'no issues'.

--

It has been suggested on several occasions that it's all in my head or is mental health related, although that kind of stopped once I was actually diagnosed. At least until an appointment of April 2026 🫣.

--

The only recommended therapy or treatment was Pacing, which focuses on learning to live within your limits. There were no guidelines around safe or appropriate exercise, diet changes or additions, or any supplements or potential medication routes.

--

I am so lucky to have to support that I do. Loved ones are either shafted with additional jobs/tasks because I can't do them, are helping me dress, or are worrying that I'm doing too much 😓.

--

I eventually left zoo-keeping because I was spending every day in intense pain, struggling to breathe, beating myself up for not doing 'more'.

--

I was diagnosed at 30.

Girlipop 🐾❤️

---

In a tide of Marty related grief - which is pulling all sorts of other feelings and reflections with it - Poppy has been a lighthouse of sparkly happy things.

---

Is she a pain in the arse? Yes.
Does she have huge feelings about the world? Also, yes.
Is she too clever for her own good? Well... Yes...

---

She's also silly, cuddly, switched on, happy, excitable, and loving (to name a few).

Super intelligent, and prone to just using brute force because it's more fun 🫣

Here's to more Poppy being Poppy.

Wolf in the Woods 📸

---

Caught someone doing her best wolf impression in the bluebells this week, cannot wait to finish retouching the full set.

---

Bluebell woodlands can be really tricky, as we need routes that allow us to create stunning images, without damaging the bluebells.

They are also pretty unpredictable - too hot or too wet, and you get a completely different flowering period and lifespan.

---

For our anxious and reactive dogs, this is best timed very early, or late in the day, and not just for lighting purposes.

Bluebells can attract a crowd, and we are usually working at a much greater distance from each other - dictated by bluebell coverage and trail/pathway position. This means I'm not always in grabbing distance of a rude dog or human(!) so an additional set of eyes and hands is recommended ❤️
