Baby Holly visited the studio for her newborn session, and I thought it would be lovely to share a little behind-the-scenes look at how these images are created. From gentle posing and soothing techniques to creating a calm, safe environment, every session is tailored around your baby's comfort.

Newborn photography is best booked during pregnancy, with sessions taking place within the first 5-14 days after birth where possible.

Oh I am absolutely gutted to be writing this.. 💔💔😭

The Barry Island Food Festival has been cancelled for today due to the high winds..

But imagine having baked about 300 cookies & pies already last night & this morning 😭😭

I haven't come up for air from crying as the planning and prep that has gone into this is unbelievable.

That being said.. I have about 300 cookies & pies here which me and my army of a family will be happy to deliver out today 🤞🏼🫶🏽

Why Backup Equipment Matters!!!
One thing clients rarely see behind the scenes is that Professional photographers don’t just bring one camera.

At weddings and important sessions, I always carry backup equipment. Because technology can fail.

And moments like:
• Walking down the aisle
• First kisses
• First dances

Can’t be repeated. Which is why I wear two cameras on a holster during weddings.

Being professional isn’t just about creating beautiful work. It’s about being prepared when things don’t go to plan too.

Newborn Photography Is About Safety First

No photograph is more important than a baby’s safety. Ever!

Behind every newborn session is constant awareness of:
• Temperature
• Positioning
• Comfort
• Support
• Safety

A lot of poses you see online are also composites, safely edited together afterwards.

Not every pose is suitable for every baby. And knowing when NOT to attempt something matters just as much as knowing how.

Social Media doesn't tell the Full Story

One thing I always recommend before booking a photographer:
Ask to see full galleries!!!!!

Instagram/Facebook profiles show the highlights. The perfect sunset. The dream venue. The best 1%.

But your photographer also needs to handle:
• Rain
• Dark venues
• Fast-moving moments
• Family group shots
• Dance floors
• Real life

Consistency matters just as much as creativity.

Why I Always Arrive Early, and no, it's not just because of my ADHD 😂

I almost always arrive early to weddings and sessions.
Not because I’m overly organised (although maybe a little).
But because photography days rarely run exactly to plan.

Arriving early gives me time to:
• Avoid traffic issues
• Check lighting
• Prepare equipment
• Find backup locations
• Help everybody feel calmer

And honestly, relaxed people photograph beautifully.
