Some of my favourite frames of Victoria Harris with her gorgeous horses ~ I would have stayed and watched them all day if I could! The way they interact with each other and the bump was just magic ✨

Booked a newborn session and feeling a little nervous? Here’s the chat I have with every family before we start.

The studio newborn sessions are relaxed and completely led by your baby with no overwhelming posing, there is nothing forced during your shoot.

It’s just you holding your new little one the way you already do at home. I’ll keep it gentle and only reach for a prop if it feels right.

Your toddler is welcome to join in as much as they want to. I always bring toys they can play with and books they can read to keep them occupied if that’s what they’re comfortable doing!

The newborn photos you walk away with feel like your real family rather than a catalogue.

If you’re due soon and looking for relaxed newborn photography in Derbyshire just drop me a message and I can hold a date for you until your baby is here ✨

Or save this for future you if your session is coming up!

Something’s changing and I wanted to be really open about it with you all, apologies in advance it’s a bit of a long one!

When I started shooting in my home studio last year it was honestly the best decision I could have made at the time. It was mine, it was personal and it gave me a space to grow into the photographer I wanted to be. And I did grow. So much. Maybe more than I expected!

And as you can probably guess… I have outgrown it. Not just physically (although a spare bedroom has its limits when the sessions are built around families actually moving) but creatively too. My whole approach is focused around movement and that energy needs actual room. Room I just don’t have at home anymore. My little girl is getting bigger too and honestly the timing just felt right to close that chapter with love.

The thing is around 80% of my sessions already happen in your home or outdoors because that’s genuinely where most people feel most like themselves. The studio side has always been the smaller part of what I do but I still want it to feel like a proper experience when you choose it.

So going forward ~ studio sessions will be at ~ it’s beautiful, there’s genuine space for bigger families and for little ones to actually move freely. And the versatility is something I’m really excited about. Yes there’s the clean white minimal look but there are also different backdrops, props, sofas and colour options so it’s genuinely not a one size fits all space. Depending on your location other studios can be arranged too, just ask.

Nothing about the way I work changes. The heart behind every session and the way I show up for you ~ that’s not going anywhere. This is just me making sure the experience matches the standard I hold myself to and if anything this change sets my creativity free when it comes to different types of sessions.

Any questions about what this means for you or your booking, my DMs are always open. Hope you are excited about this change as much as I am.

Tiny little Mia ✨
I have so many wonderful sessions that I haven’t had a chance to share yet. Starting to organise my content a little more now that I don’t have two jobs to juggle and it’s been quite nice getting back to posting although I’m still in a love/hate relationship with social media. Some days I would like to turn my phone off and never turn it back on ever again but that probably wouldn’t boas well for someone wanting to have a successful business now would it 😂

If you rely largely on social media to secure bookings please tell me I’m not the only one 🫠

Motherhood is easily the wildest and most rewarding thing we’ll ever do. It’s a constant juggle isn’t it? It isn’t always easy and it’s rarely perfect but the love we pour into our children is the most important work we will ever do. You really are the heartbeat of your home.

To every woman nurturing, dreaming and mothering today please know how much you matter. Whether you’re in the thick of the newborn haze or watching them grow up much faster than you’d like you are doing an incredible job.

Wishing you all a very Happy Mother’s Day. I hope you get a quiet moment to yourself and a hot cuppa today 🤍

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about sharing newborn images online. With AI, privacy concerns and just the general rise of wanting to protect our kids’ identities, it feels like parents are more careful than ever about showing their little ones’ faces online. And honestly, I totally get it I do the same with my own child.

It’s a tricky balance because people book sessions based on what they see online and yet so many families want to keep those tiny faces private. I don’t have all the answers ~ I’m just sharing my thoughts but it’s something I’m seeing come up more and more and I think it’s worth talking about?

For me personally, I’ve always been drawn to the little details like a baby’s tiny hands and feet or softness of a cheek. I love capturing those moments just as much as full portraits and it means I can share my work online (still with permission ofc) while still respecting the family’s wishes.

I’m curious to hear what other photographers and parents are thinking about this. How do you see the future of newborn photography changing if faces aren’t shared as freely?

It’s a lot to think about ~ is there’s a way to celebrate these tiny humans and still protect them at the same time?

Kicking 2026 with how I mean to go on… I’ve been kindly nominated for the awards in the ‘Family Photographer of the Year’ category (for the second year in a row!) eeeeek ✨

Even typing that feels a bit unreal.

Last year meant so much to me and being nominated again honestly makes me feel incredibly grateful especially knowing that my work gets to be part of such special family memories. I would absolutely love to make it through to the final this year and if you feel my work deserves it, I’d be so thankful for your vote ~ the link is in my bio 💞

Whether you’re able to vote or not, I just want to say a huge thank you to all my clients for trusting me to capture your families. I truly wouldn’t be here without the support of the amazing people I get to photograph.

So much love,
Maz x
