This work began when love ended.

Flowers, the symbol of love, the symbol of death, and the symbol of grief.

Flowers always tend to hold a meaning, even ‘just because’ flowers are gestures of love, quiet reminders that someone thought of you, and cared enough to say so without words.

After a breakup and a bereavement one after another, I turned to what was left behind, flowers. Flowers that once held meaning. I watched them break in slow motion, decay like a body, petals curled like fingers pulling away, stems collapse like the weakness in my knees. The flowers became fragile, just like how I felt... Fragile.

Photographing these flowers all dried up, in black and white has stripped away their sweetness. No more colour, no more romance, only shadows, darkness and a memory.

This series is not about beauty, it’s about endurance and pain.

These photographs are my story but, they speak a language we all know; mourning, longing and silence.

This work is an offering to anyone who has loved deeply and lost softly.
