☔️ A wedding, a poncho, and a weather forecast written by a chaos goblin...
Some weddings have sunshine all day.
This was not one of those weddings. 😂
At the beautiful Royle Forest Weddings, the rain arrived early, settled in, made itself comfortable, and stayed right through the morning and ceremony.
Out came the emergency photographer survival kit... including the trusty poncho. Fashionable? No. Effective? Also no. But at least I was wet with confidence. 🤣
Then, because British weather enjoys a bit of drama, the clouds suddenly disappeared and gifted us a gorgeous few hours of sunshine. Plenty of time for photos, laughs, and making the most of the venue grounds.
And just as we were feeling smug about it all...
The rain returned for one final cameo appearance just before the prosecco spray and before I headed home. Perfect timing. 👌
One thing I've learned after photographing weddings since 2007: a good wedding photographer's car is basically a mobile emergency shelter. Umbrellas, towels, ponchos, waterproof covers, snacks, spare shoes... you name it.
Because sometimes getting the shot means hiding in a wet bush, standing in a bog, climbing a tree, or looking slightly suspicious while crouching behind a hedge in the pouring rain. 📸🌳😂
The weather might not always play ball, but great moments happen regardless.
Who else trusts the weather forecast about as much as a toddler holding a juice box? ☔️🤣
