Look, there’s no getting away from it.

Summer is pretty much done and the lovely weather has disappeared quicker than a chocolate cake in this house.

So, obviously, it’s Christmas. 🤣

Christmas parties are already booking. Promotional materials need designing and printing. Menus need planning. And what about Christmas cards?

Are you sending your best customers bespoke cards featuring your own fabulous festive food? Because if you’re not, I think you’re missing a trick.

We realise early September feels ridiculously early to mention Christmas. But if you need Christmas packaging on shelves in November, there’s a fair chance your festive photography happened months ago.

Which means some people think we're far too early, some think we're far too late so, mathematically speaking, that puts us exactly on time.

Merry Christmas. 🎄🤶

And suddenly, everything gets richer.

We love this time of year for food photography.

Summer food is beautiful, of course, but autumn gives us something different to play with.

Deeper colours. Richer sauces. Roasted vegetables. Beautiful seasonal ingredients. Darker backgrounds and dishes with a bit more drama to them.

And we’re just at the beginning.

Autumn menus are starting to appear, then we get Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas. Woo hoo!

It's National Waffle Day! 😊

In truth, we hadn't realised that when we spent an hour photographing Birds Eye potato waffles last week, but it's a very happy coincidence!

We knew it was a bit ridiculous from the outset. We bought them because one person suggested we should photograph them. Just the one. That's all it took.

(We do love a challenge at JaxMore Food and Drink Photography!)

We've been looking at these two photographs for a couple of days now. It's amazing how much your brain invents for itself. You start making assumptions about the quality. About the price. Maybe even about how it'll taste.

That's exactly what happens when somebody's scrolling past a restaurant, café, pub or food brand online.

Nothing changed. It's the same waffles, the same beans and the same cheese.

The only thing that changed was the photograph.

You don't need better food. You need better food photography.

Last week had the absolute pleasure of shooting at the Casa Hotel, for both Barca Bar and Cocina Restaurant.

In a long and wonderful day, we photographed many of their delicious, beautiful dishes.
