WHAT’S MY 2026 DUCATI MULTISTRADA LIKE, AFTER 3 MONTHS & 3,500 MILES?

After 10+ years riding Triumph Tiger 1200s, I have switched to the 2026 Ducati Multistrada V2S.

Here's my honest 3-month, 3,500-mile review after a French/Swiss mountain tour.

In This Review:
🏍 Why I moved away from the Triumph Tiger 1200.
🏍 Why I chose the new Multistrada V2S over the Tiger 900, KTM 890 Adventure and BMW alternatives.
🏍 Real-world touring comfort and luggage capacity.
🏍 Fuel economy and performance.
🏍 Suspension, handling and riding modes.
🏍 Akrapovič exhaust impressions.
🏍 The good, the bad and the unexpected oil leak warranty issue.

What I Like
✔ Much lighter and easier to manage than my previous Tiger 1200.
✔ Smooth, flexible new V2 engine.
✔ Excellent semi-active suspension.
✔ Fantastic handling on twisty roads.
✔ Great fuel economy.
✔ One of the best-looking adventure bikes currently on sale.

What I Don't Like
✘ Slightly heavy clutch.
✘ No heated or comfort seat option (yet).
✘ No hill-hold function.
✘ Early oil leak from a crankcase seal, repaired under warranty.

Overall, the Multistrada V2S has completely rekindled my enjoyment of touring and may be the best all-round motorcycle I've owned so far.

Have you ridden the new V2S? Let me know your thoughts in the comments on YouTube…

VERY early heads up on my intended 'Spanish Grand Tour' for the pemc.co.uk motorcycle club in Sept 2027.

If it potentially interests you, please comment below, make a diary note and join the club for tour updates, as I will probably limit the number to 24 persons.

There will be great riding in a clockwise direction between interesting, good quality Paradors & hotel locations on a half-board basis and will interest the culture vultures among us. I have planned 4 x two-night stops for sightseeing in the historical cities of Teruel, Toledo, Caceres, and Granada with a visit to the magical Alhambra Palace. Overnight locations will also provide time to explore, as most of the daily mileages will be between 66 and 200miles.

All of the hotels have been selected on the basis of also providing private/secure parking, plus, Brittany Ferries Plymouth/Santander route offers sailings that suit these dates.

Enjoy,

Paul.

Post trip summary from the 'Mountains All The Way' tour 29th Apr - 10th May.

I was persuaded by the organiser that it wasn't too early in the year and he had done this period, several previous times 🤔.

Well, it wasn't mountains all the way at all, as most of the main Swiss Passes were closed and ruined everyones pre-planned routes. There were a few dry days and a few lower Passes that were open but basically my advice, if you are planning a future trip to the Swiss Alps would be...WAIT UNTIL JUNE! ☹️

On a positive note, my new Ducati MTS V2S was a great choice for touring, light, fast (well, enough for me!) and the OEM panniers kept everything dry and sleek. The only cloud that caused a little concern, was a dribble of oil out of the overflow pipe (I believe) after every ride. 0.5Ltr deposited over 10 days was a surprise and the bike was named 'Exxon Valdez' from my riding buddies! (Google it, if you are too young). I'm hoping that it's just a dodgy gasket or something but will keep you posted, once I can get it booked into Ducati Coventry.

I have some tour footage saved but do not believe it really merits a video for everyone, until I get bored in the Winter months 🤔

I hope your touring plans work out this Summer 👍
