THE HANGER HACK YOU DIDN'T KNOW YOU NEEDED

Ok, I’ll say it, black plastic hangers give me the ick. You’ve invested in the most beautiful dream dress, and it’s hanging on something that screams sale rail at 'Next'. It's just such a jarring composition. And if I'm being honest, it hurts my camera a little too.
A simple switch to a white wooden or padded silk hanger is a tiny detail, but it makes all the difference. Trust me you'll thank yourself for the switch when you see your photos.

* WHEN YOUR DAD'S A VICAR *

This was genuinely one of my favourite weddings, and not just because it was beautiful, but because it came with a side of fatherly advice right there at the altar.

Not every groom can say their dad literally married them. But when your father also happens to be a vicar, who better to make sure you don’t fluff your vows?

Cue a ceremony filled with extra emotion, a few inside jokes, and the kind of knowing look that says, I once had to bribe you to eat your vegetables, and now I’m officiating your wedding.

It doesn’t get more personal than that. Having someone who’s known you forever, who’s seen every awkward phase (and probably has the photos to prove it), standing there as you marry the love of your life — it’s beyond special.

A wedding where the Father of the Groom and Officiant are one and the same. That’s not just a wedding day, that’s a family milestone, wrapped in love, laughter, and maybe one final dad joke for the road.

As a keen gardener, I’m always drawn to the magic of flowers — their colours, textures, and the joy they bring to a space. So, as a photographer, you can imagine how much I adore a wedding overflowing with gorgeous, bountiful blooms. One of the most overlooked moments on a wedding day? Seeing your wedding breakfast room before anyone else does. After all the planning, the meticulous details, the dream becoming a reality—why should the first time you see it be when you’re walking in with everyone else?

I always make sure my couples get a quiet moment to take it all in before the room fills with guests. Just the two of you, standing in the space you’ve envisioned for months (or years!), seeing every candle flicker, every perfect place setting, every thoughtful touch. And yes, I’ll be there to capture it—those wide-eyed ‘oh my god, we did this!’ smiles are pure magic.

They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but can we just take a moment for this cover? Vellum paper that catches the light just so, a silk ribbon that feels like it was made for romance, and a delicate wax seal to finish it all off… It’s the kind of detail that makes my heart do a little happy dance. Pretty, timeless, and just a touch extra. Totally my jam.

🍸EXCITING ZERO ALCOHOL WEDDING IDEAS 🍸

Not everyone wants to drink at a wedding, and that’s totally cool. Maybe they’re not old enough, maybe they’re driving, pregnant, pacing themselves, or just not up for the hangover the next day (been there).

As someone who’s photographed a lot of weddings, I can confirm: the best ones make everyone feel included, and that absolutely includes the drinks.

So, if you’re planning your day and want your non-drinking guests to have something a bit more exciting than warm orange juice in a champagne flute, here are some ideas I’ve seen (and loved):

Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wine – Still pops, still classy, still perfect for a toast.
Fruit-Infused Mocktails – Cucumber + mint or strawberry + basil? Yes please.
Virgin Martinis or Mojitos – Sophisticated, photogenic, and nobody’s missing out.
Ginger Beer Fizz – A bit spicy, a bit zesty, and very cool.

Although tbh I think the secret is in the styling. A gorgeous glass, crushed ice, herbs, and edible flowers. No one will care what isn’t in the drink.
