This weather’s giving laying in the grass watching the clouds turn into stars, as the sun goes down & the moon starts to shine.
Laying in the wild, hearing all the little noises unfold.

Aren’t these the memories we carry from a child to an adult. Aren’t these the moments that reminds us of that feeling of coming home.
That home isn’t necessarily a place, but the people we love & keep near, they are the places we hold dear 💫

These are the moments that last a lifetime & feelings that we relive. Through childhood, adulthood, then you find yourself replicating in parenthood.

I wanted to finally share a real storyboard of this families shoot.
I know mostly dads, but some mums too, come into a shoot feeling awkward, nervous. Even thinking they don’t want it to be or feel contrived, ‘posed’, wanting it to be natural, but feeling like they are not good in front of a camera.
But every shoot, not just families, i suddenly see it unfolding. The walls gradually coming down. The presence starts appearing. Then they are forgetting I’m actually there. They are all intertwined together, playful & joyful. Present in their moments. It is one of my favourite things to see & a true pleasure to capture. 🫶🏼✨

A mother & the moonlight 🌙

There is this magical connection between a mother & the moon, the sacred moments in the dark of the night. Some say a mother carrying a child is a symbol of comfort & celestial connection.

You will find that animals birth at night as this is when it is safe & quiet. Often women also birth their babies under the moonlight too for this very same reason, it is no coincidence, but nature doing its thing.

Even in art & folklore you’ll see many links to the moon & the maternal representing calm, comfort & protection.
It feels like a serene, almost magical experience. & that’s because it is. 🌛

Or clinging to mama’s side, chasing round her legs.
They can never be too close.
But even if sometimes it feels a lot, you know it’s because your babies know. You are love. You are safety. 🫶🏼

The Re-birth 🏹

It’s time to return…

Four & half beautiful, chaotic, all encompassing, heart fulfilling months have just passed in the blink of an eye.
I call the comeback a rebirth because it is how I feel, that I have been reborn, just as I did my first son.
& like with every life changing moment, we as creatures of the earth naturally evolve. We have to.

My time has been made up from healing, surrendering, relearning, adjustment, growing & slowing.
I could go on.
So, it’s only natural that Pearl Valentine along with motherhood is on this journey with me.
Evolution.
Re birth.

It’s time for Pearl Valentines rebirth 💫
