Gannets are magnificent birds that can look majestic at times, but also quite comical. I watched this one for a while and quite liked this shot when it was about to fly off again. Love their feet.

Back from my Shetland Tour premiere with a lovely group. Overall we were very lucky weather wise with less than a fair share of rain, but plenty of mist. The highlight without a doubt was the day at Hermaness. Here is one first image of a gannet eyeing me up as it soared past.

I got back from my West Highlands & Skye tour at the weekend and we had quite a mixed week weather wise, but also some lovely moods like the evening we went out for sunset overlooking Loch Duich, when we were treated to some gorgeous sun rays.

While Puffins are the darlings of the auks on Lunga, I am personally also always drawn to the s**gs. Their colouring on close inspection is breathtaking and in appearance they are a lot more reminiscent of dinosaurs than a lot of other birds.
This particular pair spent ages hanging out and grooming each other.
The image itself is actually a focus stack for the front and back birds. Depth of field at 600 mm is getting quite narrow and the birds held sufficiently still for me to take two shots with different focus. The drizzle on the plumage adds to the image and is best seen on a larger screen.

One of the best views of a puffin's barbed palate I have had in a long time. No wonder they are good at holding a large amount of sandeels in it.
After many years of photographing them I enjoy finding more unusual perspectives.

I am back from Mull & Lunga and it is Puffin time! These two were constantly billing and were great fun to watch.

Got my macro lens out for a change and spent some time with these lovely light catchers. The dappled light was perfect for them.
