I’ve loved kingfishers all my life, to photograph them & observe them whilst they fish is just something else!
I’ve wanted the challenge of capturing them diving & thanks to for the use of his hide, myself & had a really good day with so many visits from adults & juveniles. I loved it and with patience & perseverance achy shoulders & a few swears I managed shots i had wanted … & many many out of focus/ missed/ god damn awful images 🤣

The song of a blackbird has to be a favourite of mine.

This kept popping along while we sat waiting for the Sparrowhawk, the yellow rings around their eyes are so striking against the black feathers

My grandad would be celebrating his 90th birthday today, he himself loved photography & had his own darkroom in his attic & I used to love looking through his photos & have his cameras on display 🖤… he would have loved to see that I took up the same hobby as him … he also loved the outdoors & always took us on magical mystery tours mainly in the peaks & surrounding areas most Wednesdays as a child as that was the day he closed his shop!

The kingfisher 💙

Yesterday I went to my first kingfisher hide with & had the best time … thankyou for the opportunity & what a gem of a place you have!!

We saw 4 different kingfishers (3 adults 1 juvenile) and in the rain it made for my favourite shots of rich moody colours with not much to do in post 👌🏼

There may be kingfisher spam over the coming weeks & also not forgetting the woodys, wren, robins, blackbirds & bullfinches that I shot as sometimes the little guys are so underrated yet are as beautiful as the other feathered ones.

Captured this little fella along our coastal walk yesterday. Decided not to take the camera on our walk today after a successful couple of days.

The one thing I’ve noticed on our walks is just how fragile the coastal paths are, I’ve been coming up here for 30 years and have seen the changes. Just be careful when shooting the amazing birds as you can’t always be sure if it’s a solid edge or not.
