Another highlight from our Madeira holiday was an unforgettable morning out with VipDolphins.

The crew were brilliant and we were lucky enough to see 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗗𝗢𝗟𝗣𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗦, 𝗕𝗥𝗬𝗗𝗘'𝗦 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗦 and a 𝗟𝗢𝗚𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗗 𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗧𝗟𝗘 gliding past. Some better photos would have been nice but can’t have it all!

Sunrise at 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗔𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗼 - one of the standout moments from our recent Madeira trip.

Standing at 1,818m and watching the island wake beneath a sea of clouds felt unreal.

A place that certainly made us pause, breathe, and appreciate just how beautiful the world can be.

By the look of it's eyes, I think this Red Kite spotted a B-1 heading in it's direction as it came into land at RAF Fairford!

✈️ 𝗥𝗔𝗙 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 - 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟯
If the sight and sound of the B-1 Lancer was an experience, the 𝗕𝗼𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕-𝟱𝟮 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 was something else!

👂 It's hard to imagine them getting off the ground but the power from the 8 Pratt & Whitney turbofans is immense - and loud!

🇺🇸 At over 70 years old, the USAF continues to rely on the B-52 because it remains an effective and economical heavy bomber in the absence of sophisticated air defenses and because there has been no reliable replacement.

✈️ 𝗥𝗔𝗙 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 – 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟮
I made the trip to RAF Fairford last week in the hope of spotting the heavy bombers that have been deployed there since March 2026.

🦴 It was quite an experience to see - and hear - the 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗕‑𝟭 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿, nicknamed “The Bone.” A long-range, multi-mission, supersonic bomber, it’s an impressive sight on the ground and in the sky and, regardless of your views on its role, a marvel of aeronautical engineering.

✈️ 𝗥𝗔𝗙 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 - 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟭
Had a really long but enjoyable day with the camera at RAF Fairford last week which hosts United States Air Force (USAF) personnel.

🇺🇸 Since 2019 the base has been home to a 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗨‑𝟮 “𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝘆” a high–altitude reconnaissance aircraft operated by the USAF and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) since the 1950s.

💥 Designed for all-weather, day-and-night intelligence gathering at altitudes above 70,000 feet, the U-2 has played a pivotal role in aerial surveillance for decades.
