Work has kept me very busy recently but it was nice to finally get out and re-connect with some of my favourite woodland. This beam of light scattering through the trees and lighting up the Sweet Chestnut leaves caught my eye straight away. I spent around 10 minutes moving around looking for the ideal composition.

Wintery Scenes at Hempstead Forest.

I almost slept through the frost today but managed to get out just in time to capture some wintery forest scenes nearby.

Photographing trees and woodland takes a lot more time and patience than seascapes. Woodland scenes are chaos. Branches, colours, leaves all thrown together into a mix. I'm finally getting the hang of spotting nice compositions and being able to pick them out from the rest of the chaotic scenes.

P.s. Why do people tie bags of dog s**t to trees? Do they think some sort of 💩fairy will come in the night and collect it? 🤔 🤣

Last night was one of those once in a lifetime moments. I traveled to Halnaker Windmill in West Sussex with the plan to photograph Comet Neowise. It could not have gone any better! I also did not expect a stunning display of Noctilucent Clouds though! I had the whole location to myself all night, with only a Barn owl nearby to keep me company whilst it hunted for a meal in the barley field I was stood in. The comet could be seen with the naked eye at 3am as it rose higher in the sky.

Saw my first display of Noctilucent clouds whilst out searching for Comet Neowise.
