Early morning village walk, with added sunshine 🌞
Peaceful beaches and busy fishermen. The colours are pinging from the hedgerows and pathways 😍 pretty little Coverack, you're looking splendid 🌸

Kynance Cove May 2020 Lockdown #1
This evening will never be recreated, I can't foresee a time when I'll get this place all to myself at sunset again. Literally everyone who visits the Lizard makes a bee line for this beauty 🌊
I was feeding limpits to the small fish that had become trapped in rock pools, and playing hide and seek with my pal and the dog about the rocks!

I've not indulged in a proper Cornish brunch for some time πŸ˜‹
This place is such a gem Porthgwarra Cove Cafe, I stumbled upon it mooching about one sunny morning back in 2018 while exploring over the other side 😎 definitely worth a visit. It's in the little Cove where Ross Poldark was filmed skinny dipping!

Spent the afternoon in Newquay yesterday, there's a little period of calm between Easter and Whitsun to take advantage of. I was treated to a relaxing few hours in the hotel pool and spa at The Esplanade Hotel, and for the most part, we had it to ourselves.
A lazy wander back through the dunes over Fistral, the sun decided to show her face in the early evening, hitting the Towan Island House... So it'd have been rude not to πŸ“ΈπŸ˜€
I'd so love to cross the bridge, and take some pictures from inside!

There's a book written by one of the previous owners, all about her experiences of living in the house, 'Living on a Landmark' by Viscountess Helen Long πŸ“™ it's on my reading list.

Book a table at The Portuguese Restaurant β™₯️if you really want something special. I've been twice, and the menu, quality of produce, extensive wine list and wonderful friendly service are unbeatable. They won best restaurant in 2022 in England's business awardsπŸ‘ŒπŸΌ and there's nowhere else I'd choose to dine out in Newquay given the choice. Obrigado!

Spent yesterday morning up on Chynhalls cliffs in warm spring sunshine β˜€οΈ
All the kids are back in school, so I was fortunate to get Mears beach all to myself. There's a smugness that I always feel when I'm making the first footprints in the sand πŸ˜… the coast path is bustling with three cornered leek, and the bluebells are starting to pop up to compete.

I used to work at Fistral Beach, and quickly discovered that I could take my half hour lunch break just over the cliffs, and enjoy peace and solitude even in peak season! Just take the top path to just in front of The Headland hotel, and you'll spy the tiny Cove. You can only hear the waves and gulls despite being a stone's throw away from the crowd β˜€οΈ nice for a dip too. These pics were taken on a hot day in July.

Each time I've visited Colliford Lake up on Bodmin, the weather hasn't played fair πŸ₯Ά it is exposed, vast and pretty hostile, but I guess the Scots would find that hilarious!
You can find some amazing crystals hidden about the shoreline πŸ’Ž I've a fair collection! Be sure to take a backpack, or end up like me with overstuffed coat pockets πŸ˜…
It's a fair old walk, if you're planning on trying to do the circumference, really you can't! The pathway vanishes up at the furthest reaches, so you'll end up as I did, stumbling through knee deep evil bog juice to avoid free grazing cattle who were very interested in the dog 😬. Bad (none!) planning on my part 😳.
On a clear day, you can see Brown W***y, ⛰️ the highest point in Cornwall, the summit being 1,378 feet above sea level...again, the Scots would find this laughable 🀣
Watch out for the sheep, herd of wild ponies, and aforementioned cattle, they own the place! Be sure to keep doggies under close control, especially at this time of year when they're lambing πŸ‘

Have you been a bit further down to Roskillys Official?
It's not just about the ice cream 🍦 (although it is pretty much unbeatable πŸ˜‹).
It's situated within an open farm setting, so you can see the new born piglets πŸ–, goats and geese. On site you'll also find Bowji Gallery and Sally Tully Ceramic Studios, and Coast Colour Canvas Gallery, along with a little gift shop to pick up some goodies to take home. They cook up cracking woodfired pizzas πŸ• with fabulous toppings, dirty fries which really kill you off, and some extra special homegrown delights on the new menu. I prefer to order mine to take out to Withy woods and ponds when it's busier, and sit nature watching. There's a Kingfisher couple and resident Heron down by the big pond in the woods. If you get a bit lost in there, use the sound of the old squeaky water wheel to get your bearings πŸ˜…
Watch out for the 3 amigos 🐴 if you're heading there crossing the Main Dale cattle grids!

Cave snot! Holywell Bay is full of treasure. If you visit at low tide, and stick to the right of the cliffs facing the sea, you'll come across the grotto, or Holy Well. It's full of colour, formed over time by calcium deposits. You might also be lucky enough to spot the wreck of an old Argentinian coaster. I've always chickened out of the hidden sea pool tucked away within the cliffs, apparently it makes for a very special swimming experience 😬
There always seems to be a glut of perfectly shaped sea shells washed up on the strand line, my van is full of them!
