A Coventry man found with hundreds of images of children being sexually abused has been spared jail 🚨

Police searched a property in Binley after receiving intelligence that Justin McCarthy had indecent images. Officers were let in by his father and found the 37-year-old in his bedroom, Warwick Crown Court heard.

Several electronic devices were seized, including a Samsung S20. McCarthy confirmed the phone belonged to him and provided the PIN.

Officers found a number of indecent images of children in the gallery dating from October 2023 to August 2025. McCarthy admitted socialising with other users on Kik and said he had received the images from them, Warwick Crown Court heard 😡

He admitted to storing the images on his phone and viewing them every few days. Approximately 221 indecent images and videos were identified involving children aged between four and 14.

McCarthy, of Upperfield Way, Coventry, was handed a 12-month suspended sentence at Warwick Crown Court on August 18. He was also made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for five years.
