The WSA Spring exhibition is underway and after a busy day hanging yesterday all the work looks fantastic. The quality is really high and it was good to see so many of the members and friends present for the opening.
I was delighted to sell one of mine within about 15 minutes of getting there too!

It’s nearly here, Hanging Day Friday, official opening on Saturday. I have four of my historic process prints in there and they will be alongside some fabulous pieces by very talented local artists, including this fabulous portrait.

I have been testing out a new old process called a Ferroblend. Much like a Cyanotype but with the addition of ferrous salts for a brown duotone effect. After some testing, and tweaking of the negative I love it and will be checking out the possible variations with future prints.

This is a 2 layer gum print of the living room of the post war Prefab house at the Avoncroft Museum. Captures the gloomy and difficult times of the late 1940’s-50’s. It was one of three I entered for the RBSA Print Prize Exhibition. None were selected but they only picked 92 from over 630 entries so I am in good (also unsuccessful) company!

It was launch night for the RBSA Friends Exhibition last night and my goodness we turned out in force. I was chuffed to have two pieces accepted and I am in very good company. It is an excellent exhibition and the quality of the work is superb, and of such diverse styles and processes. It is well worth a visit if you can get there.

I am chuffed to say that at the opening of the Wolverhampton Society of Artists Autumn exhibition at Rose Paterson Gallery Weston Park I was awarded the Elsie Holland prize for my pieces in the show (two gums and two Cyanotypes). It means such a lot to get this award amongst some very accomplished and beautiful art and artists.
The exhibition is on until 29 October and I will be there on 25 October 12-3 for a ‘meet the artist’ session.
