Those who know me know that, on the whole, I don’t do wedding fairs.

In fact, in the last 16 years of photographing weddings, I think I’ve done a grand total of…

ONE. Just ONE. 😂

That one was for a venue I absolutely loved, somewhere that completely suited my style and vibe.

Well… it appears Wedding Fair No. 2 has finally found me! 😍

A gorgeous venue popped into my DMs and I couldn’t resist, so I’m VERY excited to be joining forces with the lovely The Sweetest Thing Cakery and Katy & Co Catering for a fabulous wedding fair at the beautiful The Marquee at Hurstwood 🥂💒📸

📸❤️ 𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗗𝗢 𝗪𝗘 𝗗𝗢 𝗣𝗥𝗘-𝗪𝗘𝗗𝗦?

Because your wedding day probably isn’t the day you want to discover that having a camera pointed at you makes you want to run for the nearest hedge. 😂

A pre-wedding shoot isn’t really about getting a few nice photos, although you absolutely will. It’s about making the wedding day itself easier.

It gives us chance to:

📸 Get to know each other properly before the big day
❤️ Find out what feels natural for you as a couple
😂 Get rid of that “WHAT DO I DO WITH MY HANDS?!” feeling
📍 Have a wander, a chat and a laugh without a wedding-day timetable ticking away
✨ Work out what you love, and what you definitely don’t, when it comes to photos

Most importantly, when I turn up on your wedding morning, I’m no longer just the photographer. I’m a familiar face.

And for this one, we went one step further and did the pre-wed in the gorgeous grounds of , ready for the big day itself. 🥰 That means Catherine & Rob have not only had a practice in front of the camera, we’ve already had a little wander around their wedding venue and found some lovely spots for photos too. 📸🌿

The accompanying photos are, of course, Catherine & Rob ❤️ and their BIG DAY is now just over FIVE WEEKS AWAY! 😱💍

Eeeeeek!! It’s getting VERY real now and I’m SUPER excited to be back at Stirk House photographing these two getting married! 🥰📸

Less posing. Less awkwardness. More laughing, chatting and being yourselves.

And THAT is when the best photographs happen. ❤️

💍✨ BEAUTIFUL twilight wedding yesterday for Mandy & Andy as they finally sealed the knot at Park Hill Barn at Pendle Heritage Centre after all these years of knowing each other since school.

One of those lovely stories where life quietly keeps turning pages and eventually brings two people right back to where they’re meant to be ❤️

𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗚𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀!

I’ve had a photo shortlisted in the … and I’ve known about it for four whole weeks and had to keep it quiet… which has been absolute torture 😂

And here’s the best bit… it was taken at a wedding. Not a styled shoot, not a planned setup… just a real, unfiltered moment from a real day ❤️

It’s been shortlisted in the Ch*****ne Taittinger Wedding Food Award 🍾 which makes it even more special, because it sits right at that crossover of what I love most… weddings, food and storytelling.

These awards are a huge deal in the photography world. Thousands of entries from across the globe, judged by industry leaders… so to have one of my wedding images recognised at this level is honestly a bit surreal.

But what I love most about this photo isn’t the award… it’s the moment.
A fleeting expression. A little pause in the middle of a busy wedding day. The kind of moment that could easily be missed… but means everything when you look back.

Because that’s what wedding photography is really about.
Not just how your day looked… but how it felt.

The laughter, the chaos, the quiet in-between bits… all the tiny moments that tell your story in a way nothing staged ever could.

I’ll just sit here now for a while, slightly sleep-deprived from keeping secrets, and very, very chuffed ❤️

With times being tight, there are quite a few people doing their own wedding photos. Personally I wouldn't recommend it (obviously 😆) but if you are, pop over to my other page 5 Little Boys Media where I'm giving a few tips to improve your photo skills. They'll also help with your photos on your honeymoon too 😉

📸 𝗧𝗜𝗣 #1: 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱𝘀

I promised you some tips and tricks to level up your photos, not just for the pupils entering the Apex Collaborative Trust Photo Competition (details on link below), but these will help everyone take better pictures. So here is tip number one 👇

Turn on the grid on your camera or phone (it looks like a noughts and crosses board).

Now instead of putting your subject right in the middle…
👉 Move it a little to the side
👉 Or place it where the lines cross

That’s it! 🙌

✨ It makes your photo look more fun and interesting
✨ It helps people’s eyes move around your picture

On this image I've placed the macarons to the right so they cover the two thirds to the left of the photo.

🎯 Try this:
Take one photo with your subject in the middle…
Then take another with it to the side…
Which one do you like best?

Yesterday I got to meet Donna & Chris, the lovely winners of this year’s Win Your Wedding Photography Competition 💍📸

And believe me… I could have sat chatting to them all day. How long was it guys? 2 hours 🙈

We covered everything… how they first met, the incredible proposal in Iceland and somehow, unblocking sewage pipes 😂 We’ll save the full story of that for another day!

It’s always funny the little (and very random!) things you end up having in common with people but that’s what makes these moments so special. Real stories, real connections, and a proper reminder of why I love what I do ❤️

I’m already SO excited to capture their big day in 2027. It’s going to be something really special.
