Hi everyone. I hope you are all well. I have decided to utilise this page more and use it as a place to share hiking and adventures as well as photography. I realise this page isn't used as much as I would have liked so I feel this is a good decision for me to be able to share more with you all.

Today I did a lovely morning solo hike of the Mynydd Llangatwg and the Lonely Shepherd trail! Amazing way to start the day. How blessed are we to have beauty like this on our doorstep. Very foggy and cold, so much so my hair froze at one point! But wonderful to be out walking. I didn't see another person for the whole duration, and it was so quiet. Absolute bliss lol. Came across a beautiful white horse 🥰 Definitely going to do it again when visibility is better.

For anyone interested in The lonely shepherd legend heres a bit of background info. The legend tells of a shepherd who was cruel to his wife, making her work on the mountain everyday until she was weary. When she could take no more of his cruelty she threw herself in the river usk and drowned. Because of the shepherd's cruelty he was turned into the rock that now stands lonely and looks down onto the valley. Story has it that each midsummer night the shepherd returns to human form and roams the land looking for his lost wife....a sad tale indeed.

After my little adventure this morning I decided to go on another wander, this time around Cannop Ponds in the Forest of Dean. What an absolute delight to see all this wildlife even if it was spitting with rain! I hope you have all had a lovely weekend? Much love x x

I have been wanting to capture a woodpecker for sometime now, and today on mothers day I finally managed to do it! The joy I felt when I heard the pecking in the trees I cannot even put into words. This is of course the Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos Major). I'm sorry the photos are not very sharp but this little one was so high up in the trees my lens just was not powerful enough. It actually gave me a neck ache trying to photograph it but it was most definitely worth it. I do hope you all enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them 🥰Please do like and share, not only does this mean a lot to me but it keeps the page going!
A few little things I have found out about the great spotted woodpecker. This one I believe to be male as males tend to have a red patch on the back of their heads whereas a females head is black and white. These beautiful birds eat the larvae of wood eating insects. The tapping you can hear on trees is often called drumming and serves a purpose. This can be to reveal and pull out insect larvae in the wood, to make holes in trunks for nesting and for communicating. Breeding for the great spotted woodpeckers is from May onwards. As I have said on my posts before I am learning to so please do correct me if I am wrong. Much love to you all x x

Walking by Symonds Yat the trees are full of singing little Blue T**s. They are quite active little birds hopping from one branch to another. They can have quite a scolding call if you get too close. I didn't manage to get a close up photo showing its distinctive blue head, as this little one was quite high up in the trees and too fast for me but I still thought it was worth a share. Thank you for liking my photos. Each like, comment and share means so much to me. Much love x x

What I love about photography is it allows you to get up close to wildlife and see things you perhaps wouldn't notice before. This may be a common blackbird to many but to me such a beautiful bird. I believe this to be a female due to the duller yellow ring around the eye and yellow/brown beak compared to a males bright yellow beak. Female blackbirds also have a pale throat. Please do correct me if I am wrong though because I am learning too! The markings are what I notice. The detailed stripes on the feathers and mottled puffed up chest. Stunning little birds who have a beautiful song if you listen. This time of year is when blackbirds are preparing to nest, which might be what this one was doing, gathering bits for a nest. Lovely that she stopped and posed for me 🥰

I love this photo. It was taken a couple of weeks ago but I wanted to share it with you all.
Did you know that highland cattle are one of the oldest registered cattle breed in the world? They originated as the name suggests in the Scottish Highlands but they can now be found all over the world. And their beautiful fluffy coats allow them to withstand quite tough temperatures! I love that we have highland cattle grazing within the Forest of Dean.
I hope you like the photos and information I share. I am trying to be more active on this page and your support is as always greatly appreciated. Much love ❤️🙏🥰

I decided to go for a little wander in the forest today but it was cut short by a hailstorm! However, I did manage to take a few photos in the short time I was there including some from a group of fallow deer who seemed quite happy with me snapping away. Fallow deer tend to have a distinctive black stripe on their tails which you can see here. Of course I spotted a little robin too 🥰

Hi guys, happy Wednesday!
I met this little one this morning, singing his little heart out 🥰 I believe it to be a male due the u shaped peak on its head. Females have more of a V shape. Another interesting fact, did you know Robins sing nearly all year round. You can often see them at night next to street lamps singing away happily. I love this about Robins ❤️ What a beautiful gift they share with us all. Much love x x

Just spent a lovely few days in Cornwall (Bude), also visiting Boscastle and Port Issac. Such a beautiful place. Saw these birds on the beach near the rocks. I think they are Rock Pipits though I did wonder if one might be a young Sandpiper? Much love to you all ❤️
