Like most lizards, Fiji Iguanas are able to make their skin darken when exposed to the sun. The dark color absorbs more of the sun’s rays, which helps the iguana warm up more quickly.

Baby meerkats, called pups, are born blind, deaf, and mostly hairless in underground burrows, typically in litters of three to four. A meerkat family unit, or mob, helps raise the pups, with the mother giving birth after a 10-week gestation. Pups open their eyes and ears around two weeks after birth, begin to emerge from the burrow by four weeks, and are weaned by nine weeks, after which they start learning to forage and hunt with the guidance of the mob.
