Broadoaks Country House

Remember Broadoaks Country House?

Anyone?

Broadoaks?

It’s near Windermere in the Lake District. Broadoaks Country House.

Anyway.

Francesca from the events team at Broadoaks contacted me to let me know they were organising a styled photoshoot:

- “Oi! Jaye-Peg! You do photos don’t you?”
- “Erm, yes.”
- “Want to do the photos on our styled shoot?”
- “Yes I would!”

The conversation didn’t go like that at all, it was organised over email, but it’s how I like to remember these things.

The styled photoshoot wouldn’t have been possible without the help of who did some venue styling. Doing things with flowers was and I was kind of in love with the top table display. It could maybe have done with a dinosaur lurking in the foliage but it’s just a thought I had. I did well to keep that one to myself.

On the glowing up side we had the very fabulous Hair, Makeup and Beauty - Grey Blending Specialist - Zowie who painted, heated, clipped and soldered away like a busy little beauty beaver. I’m lying. She didn’t solder anything but I did the other day because I’m multi-talented like that.

The dresses, that I vowed to look after and completely failed at when I asked one of the brides to lie down on the lawn, came from two lovely legends from Grace Bridal Studio | Lake District & Cumbria Wedding Dresses. I did leave a sales tag on a veil that needed photoshopping so at least I made some sort of effort.

Finally, a huge thanks to Sarah, Katie and Kieron for being our models for the day. Thank you for following my direction. Anyone who can do that deserves to be congratulated if I’m being honest.

A huge thank you also to Francesca and the team at Broadoaks for inviting me along to pretend to be a Broadoaks Country House wedding photographer for the day, and to Lucy | Content Creation & Marketing for content creating. No, I don’t know what that is either.

I do know what a Lake District wedding photographer is though. Apparently I’m one of those.

Cumbria Wedding Photographer too, according to Google.

Here’s part two of the BTS from Jed and Keren’s pre-wedding photoshoot at Buttermere the other week. Or Jed-peg and Keren-peg as I like to call them.

This time I’ve used ever so slightly different footage. There’s less of me and Jay Gilmour bickering with each other like two primary school children, and I’ve thrown in some of the finished photos too.

Not literally though. I’ve not thrown anything anywhere. Even if I was tempted to throw Jay Gilmour into Buttermere.

To be honest, he’s too heavy anyway.

The big lummock.

By the way, did you know that Jay Gilmour now goes under the name Carvetti Studios? I think it means Donkeys of the Dump, or something. I got bored of listening when he was telling me, so I might have that wrong.

Don’t forget to watch to the end for Cheesy Gate Shot.

It’s the best cheesy gate shot in the whole of Buttermere. I wonder if I can trademark Cheesy Gate Shot? Or patent it or something?

Jed and Keren’s wedding is next month. There’s not long to go now and I fully expect there to be more fun, frolics, idiocy and potty language.

To be honest, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Don’t forget to book Gilmour and me for your wedding! We’re very much for couples who don’t take themselves too seriously and don’t mind having a couple of idiots following them around all day.

Although I’m definitely less of an idiot.

Honest.

When you photograph a wedding for a couple who both work on EastEnders you might expect one or two cast members to show up.

Was Kat Slater having a barney with Ian Beale? Nope.

Were the Mitchell brothers up to no good again? Nobody saw nothing, did they.

Just some bloke called Mark Morriss who apparently knew someone who used to work on Top Of The Pops. Well, I’ve had two weddings this year with dinosaurs, so guess who’s winning at life?

This particular wedding took place at Cockermouth Cricket Club, which made a brilliant wedding venue. Sara’s family have a long connection with the club, so there couldn’t really have been a more fitting place for Sara-peg and Matt-peg to get married.

I was there too. Otherwise I wouldn’t be posting about it or sharing any photos. It’s a prerequisite really. I don’t just turn up at random weddings and get in the way. Which is exactly what I did at Sara-peg and Matt-peg’s wedding. I’m not apologising.

Danny, who I haven’t yet mentioned, was the celebrant. He’s one of Matt’s oldest friends and flew over from Canada, where he works as a celebrant, to officiate the ceremony. It was energetic, funny and incredibly heart-warming.

I’m still waiting for Danny’s invitation to photograph one of his weddings in British Columbia. STILL waiting.

Other people of note included the brilliant caterers, Primal Feasts, and some bloke with a guitar called Mark. To be honest, I think he might have been a wedding crasher. Others claimed he was in some well-known indie band…

We also had bubbles. The bubble gunners were relentless.

All.

Day.

Long.

The most important thing, of course, was Sara and Matt getting married. Congratulations to them both. I now have far too many photographs to edit. Thanks for that.

Introducing Luke-peg and Katie-peg who were married in a super secret ceremony earlier this month. It feels like it was months ago already but the last few weeks have been a bit of a blur with so many things whooshing around me, not to mention the voices in my head…

Luke and Katie chose Cragwood for the super secret ‘Just Us’ wedding, on a very hot day. Fortunately the grounds at Cragwood offer plenty of shade in the woods and down by the lakeside, which is where the ceremony took place. A super secret private ceremony and it was so calm and peaceful that you could hear the water lapping at the rocks near the ceremony area. The water lever of the lake was also low enough for me to venture onto the rocks, and I didn’t even fall in this time. Honestly never done that before 🙄

A huge congratulations to Luke and Katie and thank you for choosing me to be your wedding photographer. Was I third wheeling? defintely not. Best mate for hire? absolutely! 😉

With thanks to Tilda and the team at Cragwood and also Richard and Lynn from Westmorland and Furness Registration Service.

Preview! Yay, it’s per-review time!

Introducing Luke-peg and Tia-peg who were married in a super secret ceremony at Briery Wood last week. Now that family and friends know I thought I’d share a sneak peak before I get to work on editing (wediting) their photos.

I’ll post again soon and share some BTS. Yes, you read that correctly I actually remembered to capture some BTS on this one, and it’s a fab one 😉

Here’s some BTS footage from a pre-wedding photoshoot at Buttermere in the Lake District earlier this week. I haven’t edited the photos yet.

I would like to thank Jed and Keren for driving all the way to the Lakes to meet Jay Gilmour and me for their pre-shoot. I don’t think they were quite expected the amount of abuse and unprofessional behaviour that we exhibited, but it was great to see that they were happy to join in.

It’s all Jay Gilmour’s fault. I’m usually quite calm and serene, and definitely less annoying when he’s not around. Honest.

Jed and Karen’s big day is in the autumn and I for one can only hope that it’s as much fun. For me anyway.

So, book Gilmour and me for your wedding. There’s honestly a lot of good humour behind the chaos, and while we might act like idiots you will get the most spectacular cinematic film and the most brilliantly artist wedding photos.

We’re definitely for couples who don’t take themselves too seriously.

Introducing Maddy-peg and Ed-peg who have now been officially inducted into the Jaye-Peg Collective. There wasn’t a ceremony for the induction process. It’s not that exciting. It’s definitely nothing cultish about that is there? (and yes I am addressing you when I state that)

I’ve found the BTS footage for this wedding too this afternoon. Some of it might even be useable even though I forgot to take the lens guard of the old Insta360 for part of Maddy and Ed’s couple photos.

The rest of Maddy and Ed’s day was super chilled at the incredible location that is Lancrigg. I’ve mentioned it before but the views across the valley to Helm Crag are just incredible. It’s a very secluded setting for a wedding and perfect for a chilled day. Which is what Maddy and Ed wanted, with just their closest family and friends there to celebrate with them. I was there too, (I wouldn’t be sharing any photos if I wasn’t) but I guess you can’t have it all can you.

For the sake of searchy-searchy/algorithmy-algorithmy gods - I did some wedding photographer at Grasmere venue Lancrigg for wedding day with couple and lots photos including getting ready and details and ceremony and confetti and candids and natural photos and documentary style coverage with group photos speeches and couple photos with no posing in golden hour photography in Lake District.

Didn’t need any punctuation in that paragraph did I. It’s definitely not copied and pasted verbatim from another post either.

So a huge congratulations to Maddy and Ed, and a huge thank you to the amazing suppliers who helped make their day perfect.
