It’s gallery delivery day for Mark and Nancy. AKA, Mark-Peg and Nancy-Peg. Welcome to the collective Mr and Mrs T.

Their wedding is one that featured Roger the T-Rex, and forever shall be remembered as the wedding with the tents on top of a fell with a t-rex. Mostly because the wedding took place in a super secret location (I have been sworn to secrecy on this) on a fell top near Tebay, Special Event Tipis supplied the tipi and bell tent that everything took place in, and the guest of honour (as decided by me) was Roger. Every wedding needs a guest of honour who is a dinosaur.

It was a hot and sunny one too. Which was perfect for the location and also meant that we were able to leave the well thought out wet weather plan aside. I did need a shower when I eventually got home so maybe a little rain would have helped cool things down a bit.

I’m only sharing a small selection of photos, with some incoming BTS over the next few days. I’ve promised to be discreet on what I share as well as who can be seen in the photos. I’m good like that.

There were some family and friends of the happy couple who absolutely worked their socks off on the day. Particularly Suzanne, Issie and Ali. A huge thanks also to and

I’ve levelled up and dinosaurs at weddings is my new thing. Especially if it’s a T-Rex with cute little legs. It’s almost certain that I will now be telling anyone I talk to about weddings and photographing them, about the day that I met Roger. That’s right Roger the T-Rex, or Roger-peg as he is now known.

Yes I’m still doing the “peg” thing. No it still definitely isn’t a cult.

Roger-peg was a plus one at a very hot and wonderful tipi wedding in the fells near Tebay at the weekend. I’ll share more from that soon. Including some BTS that I remembered to take this time (although I am yet to check the footage for usability).

I love all the wonderful variety of guests at weddings. You get so much diversity and colour that’s incredibly fun to be around and to document on camera. It’s those people, human and non-human, that make weddings brilliant. As much as I still love to see dogs at weddings too, dinosaurs are definitely my new thing.

New wedding guest photography level attained - dinosaurs at weddings. Now, everybody sing along!

🎶 “Open the door get on the floor, everybody walk the dinosaur” 🎵

I was going to share some photos today from an intimate elopement at Briery Wood last week. The gallery has already gone out to the couple and even though they love their photos, they don’t want them to be shared anywhere online.

I’m gutted. It was a perfect elopement to photograph with a gorgeous, excited and funny couple. I had remembered to film lots of BTS content and I had a blog post lined up and ready to go this afternoon. But I get it. I completely understand, and as someone who is fiercely protective of their own privacy I know exactly where they are coming from.

Your wedding photos are your memories frozen in time. They’re magical and can take you right back to the moment, the feelings, the sun on your skin, the breeze on the back of your neck, and everything else that was happening during each click of the shutter button. Your wedding photos are also identifiably you, your own personal data, and you should be able to choose who can see them and how they are able to see them.

Consent is important. Whether it’s me, the photographer, taking your photo or your makeup artist taking a quick selfie with you. Even though the copyright for any photograph that I’ve taken belongs with me, I’ll always respect the wishes of clients who wish to keep their photographs private.

I wrote a blog post about privacy and consent last year, and I’ll post a link in the comments.

I’m sure that my clients won’t object to me sharing the photos in this post. A subtle flavour of their day, without anything that doesn’t respect their privacy.

The photo of Briery Wood is a 30 photo panorama and you can praise me for an unnecessarily overcomplicated capture and edit. You’re welcome.

With thanks to Sarah and the team at Briery Wood, Lucy for working her hair and makeup magic and the team for Westmorland and Furness Council.

Boaty boaty, boaty boaty face, boats & lots of boaty boaty boats.

I shared some of these photos from Kevin and Sam’s wedding yesterday (or Kevin-peg and Sam-peg if you like). I thought they deserved a post all of their own, just to show the boating magnificence of Gilpin Lake House. I am most definitely biased but what a brilliant place for a wedding!

🚤 😃 🥂

With thanks to Connor and the team at Gilpin Lake House, Gemma from and the team for Westmorland and Furness Council.

Who wants to see some photos?!

Considering you’re reading this I suppose it’s safe to assume that you’ve already seen some. Photos that is. At least the one’s I’m referencing (or about to reference) by typing this.

Who wants to know more about the photos in the post?!

I certainly do. If I adopt the air of someone who knows nothing about the photos in this post then I would absolutely love to learn more. I do in fact, know all about the photos because not only was I there when they were taken but I was also the one taking them. With my cameras which is a vocational necessity for me. It wouldn’t be much use if I turned up to a wedding with a tape measure and slide rule would it.

(Note to self - take slide rule and spirit level to next wedding for a laugh, I’ll find it totally hilarious)

Kevin and Sam are the reason that these photos exist. There’s not anything existential about that, they just asked me to photograph their micro wedding at Gilpin Lake House last month and I said I would. In actual fact I most probably said that I would love to because it’s such a gorgeous location for a wedding. A perfectly tranquil setting in the lap of luxury is how I would most likely describe Gilpin Lake House. Add in Kevin and Sam on the most perfect of Spring days and you get a very special few hours of photo fun.

We had use of a private a lake, boat house, woodland and the lake house itself for a very special occasion, with some incredibly special people. Kevin and Sam were gorgeous, their family were also gorgeous and everything about my time with them was gorgeous and wonderful. They were also supported by some gorgeous and wonderful people such as Connor and the team at , Gemma from and the team from Westmorland and Furness Council.

It was just the idiot with the cameras that let the team down. They forgot the spirit level and slide rule didn’t they!

With apologies for any spelling mistakes, they’re all my own.

The newest members of the Jaye-Peg Collective, which is definitely not a cult, are Natalie-Peg and Andy-Peg. They got hitched* at Lancrigg-Peg in Grasmere. If you’ve never been to Lancrigg you really should go for a mooch. Maybe not for Natalie and Andy’s wedding, unless you have a TARDIS. Even then probably best to not go back in time to try and attend their wedding if you weren’t invited.

I was invited in the sense that they paid me for my time to take photos. It’s how I earn a living. To be honest it was such a brilliant wedding that I would quite happily have done it for free** but don’t tell Natalie and Andy that, I’ve already spent the money they paid me on bills and scooby snacks for the dog.

Grasmere is one of my favourite places in the Lake District, and Lancrigg is one of my favourite venues for a wedding. I’ve been going there since 2019 and it’s always great to catch-up with Simon and the team. You’re very much made to feel like part of the family in what feels like your own home. It’s a like snuggling up on a sofa to watch your favourite movie with an added plethora of local wildlife and sheep.

Natalie and Andy’s day was just like that too, a huge comfort blanket of happiness and fun set against the most beautiful of backdrops in the Easedale Valley. We definitely didn’t see a TARDIS though, not unless it had morphed into something less blue and Police Boxy.

* anyone else feel a bit mentally let down with themselves when using the term “got hitched” or is it just me? There are so many more eloquent and verbose ways to celebrate a couples nuptials than “they got hitched.” I mean, you’d think I was uneducated never went to skull!

** yes I have in the past but it’s a family (and friends) only discount 😉

I went to a wedding yesterday. It’s a thing I do every now and then.

Yet again the total amount of “content” I captured was a big fat zero. Asides from this drone selfie. Drone selfies are definitely the kind of thing someone with absolutely no friends would do. Look at me. What a loser!

The wedding was for the very fabulous Natalie and Andy, who aren’t in the photo. It was held at the also very fabulous Lancrigg, which is kind of in the photo in the sense that that was the geographical location I pressed the shutter button on the drone remote. I call the drone “The Angry Wasps” because naming a drone is the kind of thing a total loser would do.

I think I should maybe offer an apology for completely failing at social media. I’ll never get invited to a meeting of the local wedding suppliers clique at this rate will I! There’ll likely be another double page entry in the Burn Book after posting this too.

“Hello. My name is Jaye, and I did a drone selfie. I’m so very. very sorry about that and I promise it will never happen again.”

Apology done. It most certainly will happen again.

With apologies for any spelling mistakes, they’re all my own.
