Busy gathering evidence and CCTV footage …

… after a hit and run outside our home around 3am this morning, Sunday 24th May.

I’m appealing for the driver of a gloss black Mercedes to come forward, after crashing into my parked van on Highgate, Cleethorpes.

The vehicle was travelling at speed down Highgate towards St Peter’s Avenue, just before the mini roundabout, at the Thrunscoe Road junction.

The impact was so severe that my van was pushed onto the pavement, damaging and deflating the tyre on the opposite side.

I was alerted by neighbours and was absolutely devastated to see the damage.

I was due to travel to the Lake District tomorrow for a full week of work with a local children’s charity, but it now looks like my van will be out of action for some time.

There is a legal obligation to stop and provide details when damage or injury is caused in a motor accident.
If this is not possible, the incident must be reported to the police within 24 hours.
Penalties for not doing so include a fine, penalty points, driving disqualification, or up to six months’ imprisonment.

Isabel Wallis, you really are the queen of hats! 👸🏻

Hats and Tiaras LTD is such a beautiful boutique, in Sea View Street, Cleethorpes and has recently expanded into new premises on the opposite side of the street.

What Isabel doesn't know about headwear isn't worth knowing but she now also stocks dresses, accessories, shoes, gifts and many other fashion items.

We had a quick photo session yesterday evening, which we only talked about a few days ago.

It was quickly arranged for early evening as the shop was just shutting.

The equipment was all set up and ready to go within the hour.

We shot over 100 photos and were packed up and finished within two hours.

The shots were edited and delivered overnight.

It really is as simple as that.

If I succumb to inner weakness, I will get the results that go along with weakness.

“NO!”

Today, I will do what others won’t, so tomorrow I can accomplish what others can’t.”

What a great lesson for business and life, as well as competitive sport from Jerry Rice, a American Pro Footballer.

I’m learning so much through reading currently. For example ...

Each decade after 30, muscle declines by 3 to 8% …
.. that could be as much as a third by the time we reach 80, if we make it that far!
Maybe explains one reason why most slow down so much, as they get older.

"Why Lifting Is The New Running For The Over-40’s", is a newspaper article underlining the importance of resistance training as we enter our forties, explaining what happens in the absence of a strength training program:

“Each decade after thirty, muscle declines by 3-8 per cent and because it has a higher metabolic rate than fat, the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn not only during exercise but also at rest.”

If you do not battle against this natural tendency to lose muscle mass as the years progress with resistance training, your body composition will shift more and more toward fat.

As that cycle progresses, you enter into a kind of death spiral:
more fat equals a slower metabolism which leads to more fat and an even slower metabolism.”

A better book title for me would be "don't waste your last few decades" but that's admittedly not as eye catching,

There has surely never at any previous time in history, been a better time to learn.

I'm currently really enjoying reading, knowledge, information and communicating; while being able to challenge my thoughts, behaviour, way of living and hopefully the quality of the last few decades of my life.

If I’d only realised how good reading was, I’d have started years ago!

Words that frame my intentions and actions to make subtle, yet significant changes for this year include -

- Balance (carried over from 2023)
- Plan
- Measure
- Routine
- Discipline

When actioned these will effect my business life, as well as my personal life.

The 2 degree temperature and significant wind chill made it feel like minus two this morning, which was the first test of our new routine and resolve.

What are the words which sum up your intentions for 2024?

Thanks to ‘The Queen of Routine’ Jose, who consistently inspires me with her skills, passion and enthusiasm.
You are an inspiration as well as a great sales, marketing, business and life coach.

Thanks also Charles for the advice and great example.
The improved diet, reduction of meat and no alcohol plan is having an immediate impact on improved sleep and wellbeing.

Feeling a bit out of sorts or overwhelmed on this cold early January Monday morning?

A bit scrambled, like jumbled pieces of a jigsaw?

'You can piece yourself together.
Start with the corners.
Look for the blue bits.
Where do you find these blue bits?
Look for what makes you happy.'

The joy of piecing a puzzle together is finding the parts that fit together, not in having a complete picture.

Sometimes we just need to settle for finding the blue bits.

If I asked you to show me ...
.. what you do ..... what makes people choose you ..... what sets you apart ..... what are you all about ...
.. could you show me with images or video on your phone, laptop, website or social media within a few seconds without the need of an explanation?

A business of any size should have a Digital Asset Library (often referred to as DAM - digital asset management system).

This may be as simple as a folder saved on your network, computer, phone or in the cloud.

Larger organisations may use software options such as FileSpin, Brandfolder or Filecamp.

A DAM platforms helps organisations work more efficiently and leverage digital content to achieve their strategic goals and maintain a consistent brand identity.

These should be representative of the corporate brand identity, position, quality, authority and authenticity within your specific market sector.

**Event Coverage** - from company events, awards, launches, or community involvement.
**Branded Visuals** - consistent images that align with your brand identity for a cohesive look.
**Testimonials Collage** - visuals that represent positive customer testimonials, reviews or solutions provided.
**Behind-the-Scenes Moments:** - candid shots of your process, team, or day-to-day activities, fostering transparency, your personality and authenticity.

… was the question asked of a small child.

The expected answer was a nurse, teacher or something similar.

The response however was simpler, yet much more profound.

“I want to be kind”.

There are many targets, aspirations and goals that we pursue, especially at this time of the year
- increased sales, greater profit, success, recognition.

Maybe ‘the way we do it’, is more important than, ‘what we do’?
- with kindness and respect, without judging those with less power than us, whilst having a laugh and a smile 😀
