Young entrepreneurs showcase their businesses at Cleethorpes Urban Youth Market
Young people showcased businesses they have developed through a series of workshops at the Urban Youth Market, held at Cleethorpes Leisure Centre on Sunday.
The project, organised by Lindsay Powell through The TIC Art Office in Cleethorpes, has been supported by funding from the KFC Foundation and delivered in partnership with We Are FISH
Over 13 weeks of workshops, participants were each given a £100 budget to develop their own business ideas, turning their creativity into products and ventures of their own. Sunday’s market brought their work together, giving the young entrepreneurs an opportunity to display and sell their products.
The event also featured live music from two young performers, adding to the atmosphere as visitors explored the stalls.
There is further opportunity ahead for the project, with additional funding secured from the East Marsh Community Fund. Lindsay said the workshops would continue next year, with plans for participants to receive larger budgets to develop their businesses further.
A Christmas market is also planned for 15 November, with young traders set to have stalls as part of the leisure centre’s Christmas event.
The Urban Youth Market offers a practical way for young people to explore enterprise, develop their ideas and gain experience of bringing a business to market.
