Back home in Rotterdam, where and pumped out this this banger for Chinese year of the fire horse. This is a familiar place for Karski and Tim to paint, right in the heart of the Chinese community here in Rotterdam.

In Chinese Zodiac, the year of the Fire Horse is associated with intense energy, rapid change, and bold action. The year started on February 17th and so far it is living up to it's reputation, I guess.

As per usual I'm late to the party, this time the one thrown by the great . With slight jealousy I saw last Augusts series in London unfold, all the images and news reports coming out while I was half way across Europe.

Being this late also had it upsides though; I was the only one there to photograph, so I could just take my time to take in the work without anyone disturbing me. And while there were hordes of people trying to get into the fake Banksy rip-off exposition in my home town for big money, I got to witness the real deal for free and in the environment it was meant to be in.

Absolute legends and came together to create this banger in 2016. Ten years later the piece is still fantastic, not even the god-ugly package machine dumped in front can take away any of it's glory. I'm very happy I took the detour to go and check out this work.

This piece from 2015 by in Londons Shoreditch area is still in very good condition despite it's age. I happened to stumble upon this work on my walk through the area, it was a pleasant surprise for me to find it here.

This precious little gem by can be found hidden away in a side street in East London. From afar you can see a beautiful bird fly by, but as you look closer you can see that the bird is built up of many tiny people. You can lose yourself in the incredible details in this work. Abstract yet very telling.

For me the bird respresents society, where you can see small groups of people and individuals losing grip and not keeping up. Much like the story of Icarus, whose wings fell apart after he wanted to achieve too much. What story do you see?

Ending the year on a positive note with this magnificent work by in Amsterdam. When I visited this wall it was still unsure if it was the first and only time I would be able to see it. There was a discussion about the work that already started at the moment the artist was still working on it last summer. Apparently there where issues with the permits and some locals had started complaining, so there was a real possibility the art had to be removed. Just before Christmas, the word came out the municipality was not going to remove it. Yet.

The mural shows a skipper - does anybody recognize this beardy fellow by the way? - referring to the long history of Amsterdam as a trade city. Taking a closer look, you can also spot an old picture of the Amsterdam canals has been worked into the skipper's jersey.

Happy to see this one stay for at least a bit longer!

🎨 Studio Giftig - Colored Diversity

This gorgeous diptych, covering two large apartment buildings, was created by the fantastic duo . They symbolize the enormous diversity that can be found in this part of Tilburg, with over 120 nationalities present. The murals show a selection of flowers from all over the world, in vases that are being held high by people of different backgrounds.
