The Trichonephila inaurata, commonly known as the golden orb-weaver, is a striking spider recognised for its impressive golden silk webs and distinctive colouring. Found across parts of Africa and Madagascar, these spiders create large, intricate webs that shimmer beautifully in the sunlight.

Did you know... Their silk can appear golden or yellow in the right light, and their enormous webs can span several metres!

What an amazing experience to watch a once in a life time event at Abberibbi Bay, yesterday!
The pressure was on as this was once in a lifetime phenomenon and the potential damage to my eyes (and more importantly camera) could have been awful! But with the help of research, planning and a polarising filter I was happy with my results. I even tried to ‘stack my images’ so the image below is made up of 16 different pictures! Although it is not perfect, I am extremely proud of what I managed to produce ✨
