A rare white buck drifts through the New Forest like it slipped out of a fantasy novel.

His pale coat comes from leucism — a partial loss of pigmentation caused by a reduction in multiple types of pigment. True albinos are even rarer, marked by pink eyes and poor vision.

For centuries these ghostly deer have carried their own myths. One old tale warns that anyone who kills a white deer invites a long spell of bad luck.

Top‑down Solent Beach goodness — colours, textures, all the coastal detail you only see from above. No ND filter on this one, as it was shot in the fading light towards the end of the day, which allowed for longer shutter speeds at low ISO and smaller apertures.

The Pink Full moon rising yesterday evening over the Isle of Wight taken from Hengistbury Head.

Difficult conditions for this one - pitch‑black, high ISO pushed to its limit, slow shutter speed, fighting the wind, long lens & tripod battling every gust. Tripod weighed down with anything I could hang off it, shielding it with my body and a nearby signpost. I chose a longer exposure in favour of texture in the landscape sacrificing detail in the moon itself. Every frame felt like a gamble.

Still managed to wrestle out two four‑second exposures and stitch them into a pano. Hard-earned, but worth it. The South Coast never gives you anything for free.

Pink Moon — the traditional name for April’s full moon, tied to the spring bloom of the wildflower Phlox subulata rather than the Moon’s colour.

Male kingfisher stalking fish in the reed beds, feeding hard as the breeding season kicks in. March keeps these birds busy, and honestly — ask most people about the UK’s most beautiful bird and the kingfisher usually comes out on top. Hard to argue with that.

Best sunset we’ve had in a few weeks down here on the South Coast, and Friday night didn’t disappoint — absolutely epic. Quick bike ride across Hengistbury Head out to the beach huts, hit the sandbank just as the light dropped. Had the place pretty much to myself — golden glow, then purple hues, so many different colours, with the sunset seeming to last forever. Timeless vibes. Mudeford Sandbank at its best.

Embracing the grey at Boscombe Pier

Grey mist settled over Boscombe Pier last weekend, the kind of soft, moody weather that had me dusting off the wide‑angle lens and chasing whatever colour the day gave me. The pier stretched out into the sea — 750ft of Victorian engineering opened in 1889 and still holding its ground against the elements. Those muted tones, that quiet atmosphere… you definitely don’t need sunsets or sunrises to capture a great mood.

Apparently, in March 2022, someone claimed they saw three metallic, silver, spinning UFOs hovering above this very pier. Mist, mood, and maybe aliens. Something about this place always feels a little otherworldly, especially in these conditions.
