Full Disclosure, what you are about to see is graphic! But if you can stomach it, the message is very clear about the danger urban wildlife face.
I saw this young fox static, lieing on the side the road on my way into town today. This unfortunetly is a common sighting during the year, with the region I live in we have main roads - deathly corridors from one farmers field to the next. Wildlife will take the risk of crossing these 2 lanes of road with probably not much knowledge of the danger they face by doing so. But they do so in search of food, teritory and a or potential Den. They do this to survive, the irony in it extremely saddening! On this occasion I felt compelled to move the young fox further onto the verge where it may lay in peace on the grass, so it didn't become the disfigured mess that 100s of tires will make of it once it is too close to the edge.
I'm not always vocal about these matters, but over time I've come to love and appreciate what we have, and what we as a race have done to cause this outcome. Mass over development, habitat destruction and global warming, pastic pollution. The list goes on! I normally keep it bottled up in side, but I feel I need to express it now more than ever. If we don't act now. What will we have left in a decade, maybe even 2 to 3 decades? You don't have to make all the changes immediately, but working on the small changes over time can make a big difference.
If you don't know where to start. Ask yourself simple questions. Water, how many plastic water bottles do you buy, try metal? When you go to deli or meat counter, ask if you can put it in a container to reduce plastic. Try refill stores, I've found awesome refill grocery store where I live and will be exploring this and telling my parents about it. Be excited by the simple changes you can make. We worry, but just trying makes a big difference and means you care. Phew, ok my big rant over. Please feel free to share any tips or share opinions. Senible discussions though please, we have a nice community here. No bad mouthing. βΊ
Have a nice day everyone.
