Photo of the Day

Taken from South Street, Sheffield. Aside Park Hill overlooking the train station and university buildings.
This was my first attempt at night and street photography. I took up photography about six months ago after a knee injury sidelined me from my first love riding my BMW motorcycle. What started as a hobby quickly became a passion. I began by photographing my friends at motorcycle track days, which was a fantastic experience, and it sparked a real desire to keep learning and trying new styles.
One Saturday evening last month, I headed into Sheffield with just my camera and tripod, determined to capture the city's atmosphere after dark. I spent time experimenting with different settings and lenses, learning how to handle low light and long exposures. It was a real eye-opener, and I was thrilled with the results. The experience gave me more confidence not just in my technical ability, but also in feeling comfortable shooting out in public.
In this particular image, I love how the warm light creates the feeling of a cosy autumn evening in the middle of a lively, bustling city. Every time I look at it, I notice new details. The photo was taken using a Canon 650D with a 50mm lens, at a 1-second shutter speed, f/9.0 aperture, and ISO 800.
