Professional Headshot Photographer

Professional Headshot Photographer What inspired me to start my headshot business? I was not inspired by the "impersonal service" provided when I needed my own image taken.

I am a Amersham / Chalfont business, corporate & acting headshot photographer in Buckinghamshire with over a decade of experience capturing quality images that protray confidence required for theatre and film, headshots for LinkedIn and staff headshot. Also coming from the professional wedding industry, I was always told that I have a great way of seeing people and things from a different perspect

ive. What I love about my job? I love learning about the individuals that walk into my studio. We are all unique and special in our own ways living in our own bubble of experiences and expectations. I always come away learning something new which inspires me to live my best self and be more creative. What questions I might ask you before we form meet for your photo session? I will ask a number of questions upon first contact contact such as the purpose for which the image will be used for. How they would like to be perceived and what do they expect from our time together in studio.

It was lovely working with CORE's directors and staff capturing their headshots in a modern office setting. These are just some of the images captured on site which authentically reinforces the company's brand identity.

As a professional corporate and acting headshot photographer, the key ingredient for a good headshot is lighting. Photography is effectively 'painting with light', so the quality of the light used will determine the tone and mood of an image to the viewer. Upon first consultation, I typically ask my subject what message they would like to send to their target audience: looking professional or approachable, smiling or serious etc. Based on their response, I'll prepare in advance with a couple of lighting setups prior to their arrival to the studio.

For this child actor's headshot, the focus is on making sure that the face is clearly visible. My subject has curly hair which tended to fall across her forehead whenever she moved her torso and head. A few tendrils would block her left eye obscuring the beauty of her face. My focus throughout the session was ensuring that she was comfortable and at ease whilst being highly aware of anything in each frame which might detract from the intended outcome As humans we know instinctively when something is not right and as a professional my focus is ensuring the image is optimal for her digital portfolio. I was offered VIP tickets to Photo London 2025 this week which gave me the opportunity to see new works on display since my last visit in 2022. It is being held at Somerset House on The Strand. I went with hubby who took the day off to experience the exhibit whilst I went for inspiration and to learn how the creative space in the world of photography is evolving.

I recently popped into London College of Fashion located in East London to view the work of Post Graduates in a Fashion Exhibition which is currently running until the March 1st. The visual language in clothing design where technology meet fashion evoked a sense of creativity and thinking outside the box which I thought could also apply to elevating any headshot. The way light interacts with fabrics, creating shadows and highlights, is similar to what I do and explore in my photography.

Fashion isn't the only art form from which I gain inspiration. Television and film also provide inspiration for creating headshots with cinematic qualities. I have been researching and looking into the power of lighting, movement, and the storytelling aspects of these mediums as I wish to infuse portraits with a sense of depth and intrigue for those moments when it is needed. These influences is helping me tailor each session to reflect not just the subject’s outer appearance but their inner world of what they wish to achieve for themself to make each headshot feel more alive.

Moving forward, I wish to infuse more elements of art, painting, and fashion into my photography process to ensure that each portrait is a true reflection of the person in front of my camera. I always aim to provide clients with images that are timeless yet contemporary. If you’re looking for a photographer in Buckinghamshire who approaches portraiture with creativity, inspiration from various art forms, and a keen eye for detail, give me your brief as I would love to help bring your vision to life!
