When you’re inside a haunted manor dressed like the lady of the house, what else are you supposed to do except bring back the ceilings dress trend…but make it spooky?
This beautiful house began life as a Tudor manor before being transformed into a grand Tudorbethan-style property in the 1800s. Today, it’s said to still be haunted, with reports of activity on the main staircase, in the hallways, kitchen and various rooms throughout the house.
So rather than running through sunlit fields, we took our white flowing dress through the manor’s grand rooms, shadowy hallways, and even the basement, creating our own cinematic version of the trend. Less romantic movie heroine, more ghostly lady of the manor wandering the house she never quite left behind.
The funniest part? Trying to film this little video became almost as spooky as the photoshoot itself. Multiple attempts somehow resulted in only 1–3 seconds being recorded on my phone. After several failed recordings, I genuinely started wondering if I’d suddenly forgotten how technology worked.
Eventually we were told that the resident ghosts were probably interfering with our equipment. Considering I’d already had a few other strange issues and unexplained happenings throughout the day, it didn’t seem completely impossible. So we politely acknowledged them and asked them to stop messing with the filming…
And the very next attempt recorded perfectly from start to finish.
Coincidence?
Maybe.
Or the ghosts just really wanted to be involved in what we were doing that day.
Either way, it was definitely one of the most fascinating places I’ve ever photographed.
A massive thank you to Azariah and Debbie () for spending the day creating with me, being willing to try all sorts of ideas and for not running away when I suggested we head down into the basement! 👻🖤
