Not my usual type of post, but after rotting my brain looking at TikTok and seeing so many brides - yes brides - saying they spent virtually nothing on wedding bits from Shein and Temu, I had to investigate the ethical and environmental impact.

I know you want to save money on your wedding day, weddings can be hugely expensive. But please don't contribute to fast-fashion and disposable culture.

It's inspired me to write (another) blog about how to save money at your wedding in a responsible way, and to help sustainability too. In the meantime:

True sustainability demands a shift away from overproduction and overconsumption, yet fast fashion brands refuse to adopt this model because it threatens their profits.

If you're going to the trouble of planning and arranging your wedding at home, perhaps in the garden or in a marquee, make sure you also book the photographer that will capture it all authentically, too.

I've shot over 400 weddings in my wedding photography career, and I'm a sucker for a marquee, reception at home type wedding. The set up chaos, the reassuring familiarity of your surroundings, the ceremony at your village church, the dogs joining the party, I love all of it.

Hello hello, Facebook users, are you still out there? I know I've neglected this page a bit, FaceyB isn't the place it once was when I was a young lass.... anyway, I digress.

If you're reading this it means you're still seeing my page and I appreciate your support. By way of an update, here's what you can expect from me this year:

Still wedding content! My full time job is wedding photography so that's the majority of what you'll see. You may not always know the people in the photos, but if you think the photos look good, give them a like / share / comment an emoji or whatever. That lets the FB Gods know that my content is half decent and pushes it out to other people.

I also sometimes do brand / commercial content, eg photographing other businesses and individuals, so give some love to that, too. There'll be some of that coming up soon.

Football! As you may know I've been on a rapid ascent in the professional football photography world, photographing for various agencies at various levels. Even if you're not a footy fan, give yo' girl some support because this job is HARD. It's certainly not as easy as sport photographers make it look!

And what else is going on? Well, I don't know if you're as dismayed as me at the state of the world, in particular what's happening in the US, and how it will affect us over here (because it will). Sometimes I feel helpless about it all, so what we can do is remember to call out misinformation and disinformation, call out AI when it's being used for nefarious reasons, and now I am looking to stop using / buying US products where I can. This means stopping using Amazon *sharp intake of breath* and I implore you to do the same. Jeff Bezos does not need your money! Yes it might mean spending a few quid more if you use Argos, but you can do it. You might not follow up on all your 2026 resolutions, but add this to your list.
