On Friday I had a fantastic day delivering a photo walk for The Black Art Hub CIC as part of Medway and Kent Lens.

It was great to spend time with such an engaged group of photographers, from hobbyists to professionals, exploring the Historic Dockyard Chatham, sharing ideas around observation, storytelling, composition, and finding creative inspiration in the spaces around us. Seeing participants connect with the environment and approach familiar locations with fresh eyes was incredibly rewarding.

The day was followed by a thought-provoking panel discussion alongside Michi Masumi and JulieAnn Atwal, where we explored our individual photographic practices, creative journeys, and the role photography plays in each of our lives. Thank you to everyone who joined us, asked questions, and contributed to such an open and inspiring conversation.

A huge thank you to The Black Art Hub, and to Michi for helping to make the day happen. It’s always a privilege to share my passion for photography with others and be part of creating opportunities for people to connect through creativity. We’re looking at continuing these kinds of photo walks across Medway, and I’m excited to see where they lead.

Special thanks to Faith Howard for capturing the photographs and video content from the day, documenting both the photo walk and panel discussion.

I can just about remember my own name between project deadlines, preparing for an end of year show, and a very fully diary!

But the weekend is here which means Together in Strood is tomorrow! 🎉

Join us at Leigh Academy Strood on Saturday 13th June, 10am–2pm, for a fantastic day bringing the community together and celebrating everything that makes Strood special.

There’ll be plenty happening throughout the day, including:
