Caroline Jenkins Photography

Caroline Jenkins Photography Caroline Jenkins is a family photographer based in the Hampshire area (Wi******er, Chandlers Ford, S My style as a photographer is very relaxed and flexible.

I am a part-time family photographer and a full-time mum to Charlie and Evie, two very loveable and energetic toddlers. I love spending time outdoors and am never happier than when I’m on a beach blowing away the cobwebs, or out walking with my children, my husband and my dog. For as long as I can remember I’ve always had a camera and loved taking photos of friends and family. For me, the idea of

being able to freeze a moment in time and capture a smile, a special moment, a kiss (or even a tantrum) is what photography is all about! I am passionate about capturing the natural and happy moments that exist between family members, and I choose to shoot in a very unobtrusive manner, as some people can be extremely camera shy and find posing uncomfortable and awkward, so the last thing they want is a camera in their face. I balance out my shoots with some direction (if and when it is needed), but also shoot in quite a reactive style which works well with young children who just want to run around! I know from first-hand experience that asking the majority of young children to sit and smile nicely at a camera will either result in a tongue sticking out, a crazy smile or them just turning away. To combat this, I tend to provide a lot of props to entertain and distract younger children, so they have fun and don't even realise their photograph is being taken! This is always why I like to allow up to 2 hours for a shoot, as sometimes it can take that long to get people to relax and get into the swing of things. Nobody likes to be rushed, and being rushed on a photo shoot will certainly not produce the best images! I love watching the light throughout different times of the day and in different seasons to see how it produces a beautiful range of atmospheres and moods, and I love to capture this both in my own family and others. It is for these reasons that I always prefer to shoot in the great outdoors as no two days are the same, and people always feel more free and relaxed. I absolutely love my job and feel it is such a privilege to capture people and freeze that moment in time for them.

Morning all.

I wouldn't ordinarily use my business page for fundraising pleas but this is no ordinary situation.

The girl featured in this story below is one of Evie's best friends and sadly, time is not her side.

What should have been a fabulous residential to Stubbington last year when Lucy collapsed due to an undiagnosed aneurysm on her spinal cord. The efforts and strength from the whole family to get her to where she is today, has been off the charts monumental. But the aneurysm has grown and now the only way to save Lucy's life or, best case scenario, prevent her from paralysis from the neck down, is surgery in America. At the cost of £300k.

Remortgaging is not an option as the aneurysm could burst at any point so they just don't have that level of time.

So if anybody is in a position to donate or share as with as many people as they [possibly can, it would be hugely appreciated and could make all the difference in the world! They have raised a whopping £22k in less than 24 hours which is AMAZING, until you realise that its only 7% of what they need!

Any help - whether donations r sharing, would be mega!

Thank you!

I am still struggling to catch up hence why I am only day #7 of my December round up of shoots! 🤦‍♀️

Anyway, as I did Bluebell Minis last time, I thought I would continue with Sunflower Minis today.

Always run at Sam's Sunflowers in Hayling Island, this minishoot is so much more than just a photoshoot! I only run my Sunflower minis from 5pm due to the heat and direct sunlight, and the amazing thing about the evenings at Sam's Sunflowers is that it's like a festival! There is a bar, food to purchase and very often singers, bands or even line dancing etc! Honestly, it's amazing!

Day #6 of my shoots and this one is all about Bluebell Minishoots!

As they only last 30 minutes, seasonal minishoots are ideal for families with younger children or if you want to just refresh your family photos! The first minishoot of the year is in the Bluebells in April/May time. I have to finalise the shoot dates quite last minute for these shoots as it's impossible to predict when the flowers will be out and at their best. I normally work on the basis of last weekend in April and first weekend in may, but they were out mid-April this year so who knows!

Anyway-day #5 of my December shoots wrap up is the marvellous Cake Smash!

This is one of my more recent additions to the range of shoots I offer, which started after covid, when so many parents weren’t able to get their newborn photos!

It is a very American idea but a wonderful one nonetheless which normally happens around the babies 1st birthday. I offer two packages - cake smash only or cake smash plus bubble bath! You provide the baby and cake, I provide the bubble bath and then we just enjoy the chaos (and easy clean up in the bath afterwards)!

Because I am outdoor-based, I tend to only really shoot these in the warmer weather although happy to shoot in your home if this is an option!

More details can be found below!

Hi and welcome to day 4 of my December wrap up and today I am talking about newborn photography!

As one of the very few shoots that I run indoors, my newborn shoots are always so gorgeously varied and individual as they are always based in the family home. I now also, give my families the chance to also go for a walk as well during the shoot, which works especially well if you have another child or a family dog whom you want to capture as well!

I allow 3 hours for my newborn shoots which always sounds waaaay too much time. Until you realise just how much we need to stop to allow for feeds, nappy changes, burping and more feed, and then the time just flies!

Although I run these shoots in the family home, please don't worry for a second that I expect easy access to your entire house - that is not my style at all! I will shoot in whatever space is available and easiest although in an ideal world somewhere with lots of windows is ideal as I love a bit of natural light! I find being in the family home iso generally so much more relaxing for everybody though as you have all the stuff you need close to hand, you might have a decorated nursery/baby's first bedroom all ready and it is especially convenient if you have other children who you want to be included in some of the photos and then have them entertained the rest of the time!

Another massive benefit to running these shoots in your home is that they are not, in any way, weather-dependent or seasonal! So we can capture beauty indoors regardless of the weather outside!

Day 3 of my December Showcase is focusing in on my Natural School Photos.

This started back in Autumn 2020 when a friend approached me and asked me if I could possibly take some 'natural school photos' of her daughter who was in her final year at Primary. Unfortunately, school photographers were not allowed in at the time due to Covid and my friend didn't want to miss out on the chance to capture her daughter completing such an important chapter in her life!

Since then their popularity has grown and I have many families visiting every year so I can capture their children in a more relaxed and natural manner - I am all about those ever important 'smiled-to-the-eyes' moments which so many children struggle to recreate in front of a green screen at school!

Day 2 of my December Showcase of Shoots is one of my absolute faves...my dog shoots!

Now anybody who knows me knows just how utterly in love with dogs I am, so it will come as no surprise, therefore, than having an hour to spend time, walk and capture our favourite fur babies is just an absolute joy in my world!

A one-hour dog walk can take place at a time, date and location of your choice and all processed images are included in the price of only £110.

You can also buy bespoke gift vouchers which make amazing presents, esp for those friends and family members who seem to have everything and whose dogs are their world!

Hi I thought I would do a welcome post as I have had loads of new followers lately and I wasn’t sure if I’d introduced myself properly in a while!

So in case you don’t know me, I am Caroline and I run Caroline Jenkins Photography! I started my business 8 years ago when I left teaching after suffering a nervous breakdown! I’d always dreamed of simply going for walks with children, families and dogs and taking beautiful photographs of them, and that is what I am now honoured to be able to do!

As you will probably be able to tell already from any of my photos, I work predominantly outdoors as I believe everybody responds better to having their photograph taken when they are running around, jumping or climbing trees etc! However, I can and do work indoors if people have the space or set up (especially when shooting newborns) etc!

Although my profile picture looks very grown up and sensible, I thought I would share some more ‘appropriate and realistic’ pictures of me when I’m out on a shoot! I will always lie down (you get the best angles)! I will always say hello to all dogs and if you bring your dog out with me, I will always feed them a lot of cocktail sausages and treats! If you have a baby and/or toddler and you’re happy for me to, I will always ask for cuddles as I miss that! My kids are too old to pick up and cuddle now! 🤣

Most of my work involves either family shoots, baby/toddler shoots and dogs. I am very fortunate that I am the exclusive photographer to Sir Harold Hillier Gardens so have been working with them for several years, so any Hilliers-specific shoots (planned by me on specific weekends) will involve free entry into the gardens!

I am absolutely passionate about my job and working with all my amazing families but as a result of having ADHD and a very busy home life, I can be a bit rubbish with updating the website and my advertising/marketing campaigns! I’m not absent, I just don’t prioritise it like perhaps I should!

Other than that, I have a 12 year old son and a 10 year old daughter, a husband and a puppy who tests my patience everyday by running off!

If you have any questions about shoots or the process please don’t hesitate to shout!
