Back at this weekend for a press tour and still enthralled by Lynn Chadwick’s stunning ‘Ace of Diamonds’ which looks so at home on the main lawn moving gracefully in the brisk Norfolk breeze.

‘Ace of Diamonds’ was the last work Lynn Chadwick made and at over 6m wide is also his largest. It originated as a 1m proposal for a memorial commission for the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy which Chadwick served under during the Second World War.

Unfortunately it was too contemporary for the commission but Chadwick persevered and spent the next ten years bringing it to fruition.

My video was slightly wobbly so here is the wonderful version!

As we step into spring, we’d like to spotlight Otter and Cub (2018) by Anita Mandl, featured in our current solo exhibition, Anita Mandl Centenary.
Full of character, these otters would make a beautiful addition to any garden or outdoor space 🌿

Don’t miss ’s extraordinary exhibition Out of Africa - The Ugandan North which closes next Saturday 14th March 🌿

This show, at our sister gallery in Gloucestershire, features work by Ugandan sculptors Isaac Okwir and Peter Oloya, who have each taken part in numerous Ruwenzori Foundation residencies and Ruwenzori Founders workshops.

Peter Oloya’s exploration of African culture is profound, presenting himself as both a custodian of tradition, close to his Acholi roots, and a man of the modern world.

Isaac Okwir works directly in wax, elegantly describing form, movement and volume in his sculptures of animals and figures deftly constructing them with sheets of wax. Through this chosen medium, he eloquently and fluently translates his most instinctive and deepest observations.

Through the lens, bronze looks like liquid sun.

Capturing these pours never gets old — every frame is heat, light, and pure craft in motion. 🔥📸

Out of Africa – The Ugandan North
Exhibition at Gallery Pangolin

Our exhibition, Out of Africa – The Ugandan North, features work by Ugandan artists Isaac Okwir and Peter Oloya.

Okwir imbues his animals and figures with movement, volume, and life. His jackal sits with quiet elegance, carved from black granite.

Ugandan is home to several species of jackal, mainly the black-backed and side-stripped jackal. In Ugandan folklore, jackals take on many roles. Often cast as tricksters, they rely on intelligence and cunning to survive; outwitting larger, more powerful animals such as lions.

A symbol of intelligence, survival, and subtle power.
