The contest went on well into the evening until the light was far too bad for ordinary photos. I switched to a very slow shutter (1/10th sec instead of the usual 1600 or 2000) and tried to capture some slightly more "artistic" shots, showing movement by panning with the action. Here's a few (imo) "keepers" with .k90, more to follow

Loop; if you look carefully, you can see the spray trail arching along the flight path between the take-off wave and the board, which is about ¾ of the way around a full revolution in the air (a ” back loop” for the uninitiated). Taken at the British Wavesailing Association Classic event at Rhosneigr last weekend. Rider is Lucas Meldrun .K90 who came third in the event.

Another close encounter with a brown hare, this time in Cheshire.

I saw three hares far away in a field and lay flat on my stomach and very still, hiding in the long grass on the edge of the field in the hope they’d come towards me. As you can see, one did. In the meantime a car drove slowly down the nearby road, and, some time later, the local farmer turned up to ask what I was doing. Apparently someone had reported a human body in his field and he’d come out to investigate! I must have been very still…

Fortunately he was a really nice guy and very understanding so we had a laugh about it. Could have been so much worse!

Acrobatic tern

Cemlyn is a spectacular and accessible breeding ground for sandwich, common and arctic terns in spring and summer. I have wanted to take this photo - or one like it - for a while. When leaving the water, terns often pause mid-air to shake off the excess water before flying off. To show the water droplets I needed it backlit against a dark background towards sunset. I'd have preferred it face or side on to show the head and eyes but unfortunately the wind was in the wrong direction. But still, I will take it for now and keep trying when the conditions are right...

I was lying in a field, watching a small group of hares playing at the other end, hoping at least one would come towards me. At some point, I glanced to my right and this hare was sitting, no more than 10 metres away! We exchanged glances, I managed to slowly turn the camera around and fire off a few shots before he ran off to join the others

Normally auroras, on the rare occasions that we see them, happen in the North. One of the many amazing things about the other night was that it was happening in every direction -here is a 260 degree panorama of Rhosneigr village taken from the beach
