🪩 FRIDAY NIGHT YOUTH DISCO – THE HANGAR, ABERBARGOED 🪩
We are currently in the early planning stages of bringing a weekly Friday Night Youth Disco to The Hangar in Aberbargoed, running:
📅 Every Friday
⏰ between 18:30 & 23:00
📍 The Hangar, Aberbargoed
🎟️ Proposed entry: £3 per person
👥 Capacity: approximately 80–100 young people
I have spoken with Gareth at The Hangar, and this could potentially be possible, provided we put the right structure, safeguarding and support in place. (It’s not guaranteed yet)
The idea is to create a regular, affordable Friday night activity for young people from Aberbargoed, New Tredegar, Bargoed, Gilfach and surrounding communities.
To make this happen, we need community support.
We are looking for:
🎧 A regular disco/DJ provider who would be interested in working with us weekly.
🛡️ At least two suitable security staff to help oversee the safety of the young people and the building.
🥤 Volunteers to run the refreshments area, selling drinks and snacks throughout the evening.
🎟️ Volunteers to manage the door and entrance fees.
🤝 Parents and community volunteers who would be willing to support the project and help us create a safe, well-managed environment.
The proposed £3 entrance fee would help towards the costs of running the disco, rather than being about making a profit.
This would be aimed at secondary-school-aged young people, approximately 11–17 years old, giving them somewhere local to meet friends, socialise, enjoy music and have something positive to do on a Friday night.
There is still plenty to work through, including safeguarding, insurance, security, volunteer roles, permissions and operating procedures, but before we can move forward we need to know that the community wants this.
❤️ PARENTS – would you support a weekly youth disco at The Hangar?
🙋 Would your child attend?
🤝 Could you volunteer or provide one of the services we’re looking for?
Please comment below, tag anyone who may be interested, or get in touch privately.
If the community gets behind this, we can start putting the pieces together and see if we can turn it into something that runs every single week for our young people. 🪩🎶
