Bottisham from Above – Bell Road & A1303 | 360° Drone View – August 2026

Another 360° flight over Bottisham, Cambridgeshire, this time from the area around the junction of Bell Road and the A1303.

From this position, the flight provides a wide view across Bottisham and the surrounding Cambridgeshire countryside, with Cambridge visible in one direction and the A14 towards Newmarket in the distance.

As the drone completes the 360° view, several familiar local landmarks can also be spotted, including Bottisham Village College and Holy Trinity Church, both of which featured in my earlier flights.

Another interesting feature in the landscape is the area of the former Second World War Bottisham Airfield. Once a wartime airfield, much of the area has since returned to agriculture or become wooded, making its history much less obvious when viewed today.

At approximately 115 metres above ground level, the 360° flight gives a great perspective on how Bottisham sits between Cambridge, Newmarket and the surrounding farmland, while also revealing some of the area's more recent history from above.

As with my other drone videos, I'm enjoying using these flights to explore familiar local places from a different perspective while continuing to improve my flying and editing.

Bottisham High Street – Revisiting a Memory from the 1980s | Drone Footage – August 2026

Another short drone flight over Bottisham, Cambridgeshire, but this location has a slightly more personal story behind it.

The flight was taken around 187 High Street, Bottisham, today home to First Copy IT, but the building was formerly associated with a public house.

My reason for filming here goes back to the 1980s, when my girlfriend at the time — now my wife — and I came here for a date night.

Unfortunately, while we were inside, my car was broken into.

The thieves apparently weren't too impressed by the car itself because all they took were our two coats!

Looking back more than 40 years later, perhaps that says something about the car I was driving at the time — apparently the coats were the most valuable things they could find. 😄

Thankfully, despite the slightly eventful date night, the girlfriend stayed around and eventually became my wife!

It's strange how an ordinary building or location can bring back a memory from decades ago. That's one of the things I'm enjoying about these local drone flights — seeing familiar places from a completely different perspective while occasionally rediscovering some of my own history along the way.

Bottisham from Above – 360° Summer View | Drone Footage – August 2026

A 360° view from approximately 115 metres above Bottisham, Cambridgeshire, taken over the junction of Park End and Tunbridge Lane.

This flight gives a great panoramic view across the village and the surrounding Cambridgeshire countryside, with Bottisham below and large areas of agricultural land stretching out towards the horizon.

What particularly stands out in this footage is just how dry the landscape looks following the recent period of hot weather. The dry grassland, fields and crops give the countryside a noticeably brown and golden appearance compared with the greener landscape normally associated with the area.

At around 115 metres above ground level, the 360° view really shows the contrast between the village itself and the extensive farmland surrounding it.

As with my other drone videos, these flights are an opportunity to capture familiar local places from a different perspective while continuing to improve my flying and editing.

Bottisham Village College – A View from Above | Drone Footage – August 2026

Another flight over Bottisham, Cambridgeshire, this time taking a look from above at Bottisham Village College and its surrounding grounds.

I don’t have any personal connection with the college, but while looking into its history I discovered that it has been part of the local community for nearly 90 years.

Bottisham Village College opened in 1937 and was the second of the Cambridgeshire Village Colleges, created around the vision of educationalist Henry Morris, who believed that schools should be at the heart of their local communities. The original college buildings were designed by Cambridgeshire County architect S. E. Urwin, and the college was officially opened on 6 May 1937.

Over the decades the site has developed considerably, with more recent additions including the Morris Wing, Evans Auditorium and Community Library, while continuing the original idea of combining education with wider community facilities.

From the air, the flight gives a great perspective of the scale of the college, its buildings, sports facilities and its position within the surrounding Cambridgeshire countryside.

As with my other drone videos, each flight is another opportunity for me to improve both my flying and editing while capturing familiar local places from a completely different perspective.

Apparently phone screens weren't designed for spotting tiny tractors from 100 metres up... 🚜😄

🌳 Priory Wood from Above... with a little added excitement! 🚁😄

A gentle flight over (and through) the beautiful walks of Priory Wood... right up until my drone decided it had had enough of talking to the controller!

Watching the footage back, I'm beginning to suspect the nearby power lines may have been having a quiet word with it. Needless to say, I was far more relieved than the drone when it came home safely.

One of the golden rules of drone flying: always avoid trees... and especially power lines... if you want to keep your expensive flying camera! 😂

Thankfully, both pilot and drone survived to fly another day, and I hope Priory Wood continues to be enjoyed by the people of Burwell for many years to come.

Reach Fair 2026 🛸

Aerial views from above Fair Green, capturing the atmosphere and setting of this historic event in Reach.

Filmed respectfully with a focus on the wider scene rather than individuals, keeping things safe and considerate throughout.

Reach Fair has been running since 1201 and remains a brilliant local tradition—opened each year by the Mayor of Cambridge, with plenty to see and enjoy.

Millstone Park – New Construction Progress | Drone Footage – Burwell, April 2026

This is my first drone flight since the opening of the show home last month, capturing the continued progress of the development at Millstone Park, located off Newmarket Road, Burwell. 🏗️

My first video, filmed in April 2025 just before construction began, is also available on my channel if you’d like to see the “before” view and compare how far the site has come.

I’m really interested in tracking the progress of this development over time and will continue to upload updates as and when I’m able to capture new footage. Each flight is a learning experience — both in flying and editing — and it’s been great to document the changes from above.
