Pale Tussock moth caterpillar climbing among the goldenrod. a very early instar, similar to the ones that had literally just hatched on our kitchen window a couple of years ago. Still
Not worked out why they are covered in long hairs. They could be a way to make them hard to be eaten, or a way to move quickly to a new leaf on the breeze!

Double fun yesterday, a new Snakehead Fritillary and a Philodromus aureolus s.str . Sadly the spider is missing the left front 2 legs, so more of a limping crab spider, than a running crab spider perhaps!

Wonderful to see this Emden Goose acting like a lengthsman of between locks 15 & 16. Swum towards Pirbright Bridge behind us on the way down, then jumped out and walked back after lunch with us! Bit grumpy but very attentive. 😂 Seemed a bit peeved by constant train horns as they passed!!

Our fence is covered by these Dicyrtomina species globular springtails after all the current rain. Good height for mebto get shots, with the bad back too. 😂
