The Horsehead & Flame Nebula region in Orion 🔥✨ this has to be one of my best Astro shots to date.. 📸

The Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33) is located approximately 1,375 to 1,500 light-years away from Earth. Situated in the constellation Orion,

Horsehead itself is actually a dense column of cold gas and dust, sitting in front of the red emission nebula IC 434. Its shape is carved by intense radiation from nearby stars, gradually eroding the material over time.

The Flame Nebula (NGC 2024) is a completely different environment — a region of active star birth, where young stars are forming within thick clouds of gas and dust, hidden behind that glowing, fiery appearance.

And then there’s Alnitak… one of the eastern stars in Orion’s Belt, and bright enough to make processing a real challenge due to its intense glare and surrounding halo. 📸🌟

Had such an amazing evening photographing the legendary Doreen Doreen at the The Fleece Bristol, the band has such high energy, & Flamboyant style, fronted by Carol Whitworth, with their electric covers of pop rock and disco hits, the crowd where literally bouncing all night..
Which made photographing the evening a little tricky.. 😎📸 just a few images

NGC 7635, aka the Bubble Nebula, a giant cosmic bubble blown by a massive star’s fierce stellar wind. 🌟
Spanning about 10 light-years across, this glowing cloud of gas and dust is a stellar showstopper in Cassiopeia. This image took 401 images and a total of 6 hrs of integration time to create.. 😎📸🌟

Stunning little Kingfisher, one of the UK’s most electric little predators, resting between dives.

I never get tired of watching these beautiful, lightning fast birds. 😎📸

Monday (19th Jan) night the Aurora Borealis put on a stunning display, lighting up the sky with flowing greens and subtle pinks.

This phenomenon is caused by charged particles from the Sun interacting with Earth’s magnetic field — and it’s not something we often get to see this far south, which made it even more special.

An incredible experience and a real reminder of how powerful and beautiful nature can be 🌌✨📸

One of the most exciting moments in wildlife photography, watching this beautiful Kingfisher dive, catch its fish and return to its perch in a split second. There so small & super fast. 📸😎

Love the way the clouds clear to make way for the constellation of Orion to pass across Cherhill downs.
4hrs of 8 sec exposure’s to create this Timelapse.. pop the sound on and turn the phone to landscape,

The Orion Constellation Brightest Stars,
Orion, "The Hunter," is one of the most famous and recognizable constellations, easily spotted in winter skies by its prominent belt of three bright stars (Alnitak, Alnilam, Mintaka) with a fuzzy "sword" hanging below, home to the stunning Orion Nebula and bright stars like Rigel (blue) and Betelgeuse (red). Named for a hunter in Greek myth, Orion chases Ta**us the Bull and the Pleiades sisters across the celestial sphere, appearing in the east at dusk in winter and setting in the west by dawn.

The Orion Nebula (M42)
A close look at one of the brightest star-forming regions in our sky, about 1,350 light-years away. The pinks and blues come from glowing hydrogen and oxygen gas shaped by newborn stars in the Trapezium cluster. This image blends long exposures to capture both the bright core and the faint outer wisps of this iconic winter nebula.”

I took the photo of the Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33) & Flame Nebula (NGC 2024) which is 1375 light years away from us.. !!
Captured with my Canon Ra on a SkyWatcher equatorial mount, taken from the garden in Wiltshire.

This image is total of 2 hours of integration made up of 180-second exposures allowed the faint hydrogen glow of IC 434 to emerge cleanly behind the dense dust column that forms the Horsehead silhouette. The Flame Nebula shows strong UV-excited emission near Alnitak,

I didn’t manage to get out with the camera this Bonfire Night, but looking back through some of my shots from a coastal display I was commissioned to capture earlier this year reminded me how much I enjoy photographing fireworks.
They’re a real test of timing and patience — trying to catch that perfect burst of colour and reflection over the water is always worth the challenge.
Thought I’d share a few of my favourites from that evening.📸
