A £13 pop-up hide is enough to get me within 6ft of these beauties. Local enough to walk to, prevalent enough not to have to wait long and bold enough to stare at me !

This red kite was very tolerant of me following it round the woods until i got the shots i wanted.

I really don't like birds with a sky background (even if it is looking right down the barrel of my lens) so watched it's hunting pattern and next day, hid (as if you can hide from those eyes) in the right spot and waited and waited until it was comfortable i wasn't a threat. It paid off.
These are all 600mm handheld, iso800, 1/2000s, f6.3

Just a few pics taken on a walk around Arnside. The Fallow deer were wild ( some are reared on estates ), the red deer was super spooked and the tawny owl was so busy being attacked by tiny birds, it wasn't bothered by me at all. The owl pics taken at 600mm, handheld. The camera took out most of my shake and weave lol.
