Guess what happened next 👀

One of my favourite things about first birthday sessions is that babies do not follow a script.

Sometimes they love the cake straight away.
Sometimes they look at it like it’s deeply suspicious.
And sometimes they have a full little protest first… before deciding it’s actually the best idea ever.

That’s exactly why I love these sessions.

They are not about forcing the perfect smile. They are about capturing your baby’s real personality and all the funny little reactions that you’ll laugh about for years.

So if you’re worried your little one might be shy, grumpy or not interested in the cake at first, please don’t let that put you off.

Most mums book a newborn session because they want beautiful photos of the baby.

But these are often the photographs that end up meaning the most.

Everyone together. The big brothers suddenly looking so grown up next to their tiny new sister. Mum actually in the photos instead of being the one taking them. Dad holding all three of his children.

Because a newborn session isn’t only about remembering how tiny your baby was. It’s about remembering what your whole family looked like when they arrived.

And please don’t worry about older siblings being perfectly behaved or knowing how to pose. They absolutely don’t need to. We keep it relaxed, let them be themselves and work around the children.

Full newborn sessions can include parents and siblings, so you come away with much more than just baby portraits.

Who said birthday photos are only for the first birthday?

Two is such a funny little age.

They already know exactly what they want, they have opinions about everything, they make you laugh constantly… and somehow they still look so tiny when you see them next to their older sibling.

I loved this session because it wasn’t just about a birthday cake.

We got the little details, the sibling moments, cuddles with mum, the serious faces, the silly faces and all the personality in between.

And honestly, these are the photographs that become more valuable with time because they show what your child was actually like at this age.

So if your little one is turning 2, 3 or even 4, you absolutely do not need to wait for another “big” milestone to book a session.

Birthdays are always worth remembering.

There’s actually something I really love about photographing babies a little later.

They look at you.

They smile.

They start showing us those little expressions their parents already know so well.

A newborn session is beautiful, but it isn’t the only lovely stage to photograph.

So please don’t worry if the first few weeks have already passed. We can create something completely different, but just as special.

One of the biggest reasons not to worry about missing a newborn session?

You can still photograph this chapter of your family.

Your baby might not curl up and sleep through the whole session anymore, but now they look at you, react to your voice and sometimes give us the biggest smiles.

And the photographs with mum and dad become even more fun because there’s already so much interaction between you.

If the first few weeks disappeared in a blur, please don’t worry. You haven’t missed your chance to have beautiful photographs of your baby.

Older babies are amazing to photograph too. We get eye contact, little smiles and so much personality, while they’re still wonderfully small.

One year old and already knows the best way to eat cake 😂

No spoon. No hesitation. Straight in.

First birthday sessions are one of my favourites because you never really know what you’re going to get. Some babies carefully poke the cake with one finger… and some go face first.

Either way, these little reactions are exactly what you’ll want to remember.

This is exactly why I love including family photos in a First Birthday session.

Yes, we get the lovely birthday portraits. Yes, we get the cake. But sometimes the best photographs happen when everyone forgets about the camera and just joins in.

And I have a feeling this little girl will LOVE seeing these photos of her family when she’s older.

Our full First Birthday sessions can include family photographs, the birthday/cake smash setup and bath afterwards.

Some moments are tiny, but they become the ones you remember most.

The sleepy little face. The curled-up hands. The way your baby fits so perfectly into your arms.

It all changes so quickly.

That’s one of the reasons I always encourage parents to be in the photographs too. You don’t need to feel photo ready and you definitely don’t need to know how to pose.

You just need to be there.

Because one day these won’t only be photographs of how small your baby was. They’ll also show how loved they were right from the beginning.

Newborn sessions are usually best around 7 to 16 days after birth, although older babies are always welcome too.

Full newborn sessions start from £250 and can include parents, siblings and family photographs.

A £50 deposit secures your booking. If you’re expecting, we can simply pencil in your due date for now.

There’s something so special about maternity sessions when the whole family gets involved. 🤍

Because this chapter isn’t only about waiting for a new baby… it’s about celebrating the family they’re already joining. 🥹

Big brothers, little hands on Mum’s bump, cuddles with Dad, lots of giggles in between these are often the photographs that become the most precious years later.

Our maternity sessions can be elegant and glamorous, soft and natural, or a beautiful mix of both and of course, partners and children are always welcome to be part of the experience. ✨

If you’re expecting, we recommend booking your maternity session for around 30–36 weeks.
