European Turtle dove ( Streptopelia turtur)

One the rarest summer birds in the UK, feeding on small arable plants. With modern-day farming practices meaning a lot of arable weeds dont grow, meaning food is harder to find. They're breeding season is much later and harder to be successful. Please look up operation turtle dove and see if you can volunteer and help in your local area!!

No better spot for a S**g 🤣

A beautiful species of seabirds with the same misleading feathers as a Maggie or crows. In the right light all sorts of amazing colours explode from the dark black feathers. These birds have declined by 71% since the 1980, with the strongholds being in Scottish Islands such an on Lunga.

Late April to early may sees the appearance of the Pearl-bordered fritillary. A once common species in coppiced woodland normally seen darting across the vegetation. In early morning and late evening, you can get lucky as they cool down and settle for longer, allowing all their beauty to be admired.
