Would your children feel more comfortable having a photo shoot in a studio or outdoors?​​​​​​​​

I would say the majority of children would feel more comfortable outdoors. It's just something they are used to. That's not to say they wouldn't enjoy a studio shoot. It's just different. A studio would be a new environment for most children and so they are bound to feel a little unsure at first. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
So where should you have your family photo shoot? ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Well that depends on:​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
* What sort of image are you looking for? Do you want a nicely posed image with controlled lighting or would you like a more relaxed/candid look?​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
* How active are your children? Are they likely to sit for a posed photograph in a studio? Or is that likely to be a stressful experience for you all? (Sometimes it's hard to answer this one as we all know our children are full of surprises!) Just consider that you really want to look back at your photos with fond memories rather than thinking about how much of a nightmare the shoot was!​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
* What suits your family? Are you an outdoor family or do you prefer to spend your time indoors? Obviously an active outdoor family can have a studio shoot and a family who prefer to be indoors can have an outdoor shoot. There are no rules!! But it's just something to consider when deciding.​​​​​​​​

🍁🍂🍁 5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT AUTUMN MINI PHOTO SHOOTS 🍁🍂🍁​​​​​​​​

1. I've been running Autumn Mini Shoots for a few years now and they are very popular. BOOK FAST THEY USUALLY SELL OUT!​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
2. I have one date in each location. I have chosen a Saturday so that we can use the Sunday as a back up day if the weather is truly abysmal! I will only rearrange if it is torrential rain or dangerously windy. We will work around all other weather, we live in the UK! 😂​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
3. The first shoot of the day will be at 8.30am. I know this is early for the weekend however "The early bird catches the most gorgeous light in their photos" (lesser know photographers proverb! 😉 Sorry that amused me... 🤣). So if you can get yourselves to an 8.30am shoot and the sun is shining you will be truly rewarded!​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
4. There are only 2 afternoon shoots on each date so if your children do Saturday morning clubs you need to be really quick off the mark to grab one of them. 😜 The new locations are fabulous venues and have cafes and toilet facilities so you can enjoy an autumnal walk and hot drink after your shoot. I will check closing times nearer the shoot dates.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
5. Mother Nature has her own agenda! Last year the leaves turned 2 weeks later than the year before. A huge downpour followed by very windy weather can clear a tree of it's leaves in 24 hours! I've seen it happen!! I keep a weather and location watch and I will change to another location in the same vicinity if the original location is not looking very autumnal on the day before your shoot. I will obviously keep you posted.​​​​​​​​

Difficult Decisions... 🤔​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
It's been an extremely quiet first half of the year and although I have had a few enquiries this month it is still much quieter than it would normally be. So I have made the difficult decision to close the studio. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
It's a shame as I have really enjoyed having the studio but a lot of my recent shoots have been on location so it doesn't make sense to pay for a studio that's not being used.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
I have my last couple of shoots this week and then it's time to pack up and move out in time to hand the keys back at the end of the month.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
My focus now will be on brand/headshot photography shoots and family location shoots. Both of which I currently offer and are very popular. I will also continue to offer my seasonal outdoor mini photo shoots. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Unfortunately I won't be able to offer Christmas Mini Shoots this year. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
I also won't be offering Newborn shoots! This is a big change as I started my professional photography journey as a Newborn photographer over 10 years ago now. As much as I love photographing newborns it's not something that you can do outdoors really. Not in the UK anyway! ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
So it's definitely a time of big change but I will still be here just offering slightly different services.​​​​​​​​
