It’s been a while! 👋🏻
I thought I’d check in with a little glimpse of my new branding, (my website still needs to be fully sorted), but other than that I’m very happy with my slightly altered ‘vibe’ after having the same for my whole 12 year career so far! Special thank you to for creating this for me, (she’s also my beautiful cousin - bonus).
I had planned a whole branding change, pricing structure, website, scaling up ideas for this year, but obviously found out I was pregnant at the very start of January. This shouldn’t change things in regard to our careers, but it naturally does.
This year was all booked & sorted with 4 destination weddings, but now due to dates & my own personal boundaries I am doing half of what was planned. I firstly want to say thank you to my amazing clients who this has impacted for being so understanding. But also, just so everyone knows, I NEVER leave any of my clients without an amazing if not better solution. Ever. I’ve given my heart & soul into my photography career & clients for 12 years. I’ve always aimed to please & go above & beyond, even if it stretched me or I was aware I was under valuing myself. I’ve learned that in my personal life I am like this too. Rather than saying ‘no’ or setting boundaries, I just assume people will know my boundaries & would rather brush the awkwardness of saying ‘no’ under the carpet!
This year this has had to & WILL change, & to some extent, although scary, I’m glad, because I’m not sure I ever would’ve paused & put myself first otherwise, in all areas of my life!
Yes, I am having a baby in September.
Have I had to cancel weddings - yes.
Have I had to set boundaries for weddings I’m still doing - yes.
Have I noticed the financial impact already - YES.
Is this the end of my career - no. It’s just a change. It will now evolve with the new me. The change I’ve wanted for years, to be truthful. It’s going to make my business choices more meaningful from now on.
I turned 35 last week & I have been photographing weddings since I was 23. I think it’s my time now.
