A little blast from the past today for National Nylon Stocking Day
Going back in time to May 15th, 1940. Before this day, silk was for the rich and the rest made do. Then came Nylon. a fab "new" revolutionary invention . When the shops opened, women lined the streets for miles. It wasn't just about fashion; it was a small piece of magic people could finally afford.
At dpix Creative Photography, we went into the dpix archives and found a shot that we took for a stocking brand a few years ago the brief was to capture that feeling. This photograph pulls the past into the light, the sharp seam, the soft glow, and the simple elegance of a different era.
In a world of "fast fashion," there is something powerful about an image that celebrates a time when things were built to last and dressing up meant the world.
