Hi, I'm a multi award wining fine art photographer from the south-west of England. I seem to have owned DSLR's forever, but it’s only recently that I have started to take this hobby a little more seriously. In the past two years I have been lucky enough to win "Wex Photographer of the Year" for two years running (2016 - 2017) and have also won the “Your View” Category in Landscape Photographer of the Year in 2017.

Another infrared from last weeks local walk when the sun was shining. Had to do a little clean up in photoshop on this one as there was a shadow from a tree on the left of the frame. I deliberated whether I should bother tidying it up, but I quite like the end result so think it was worth it.

Some nice light for infrared today so decided to go for a walk to a local spot. Unfortunately the tree I wanted to capture is totally overgrown and no longer accessible, so I decided to take a few shots of these. I mainly shot in 720nm but did some colour 590nm images as well.

A few infrared images from past and present 1) 2026 2) 2024 3) 2025.

I’ve not shared any film images for a while, here’s a couple from a few months back. Missed focus ever so slightly on these, but they still have a nice feel to them. 500cm

CONTRAST - not usually one for shooting contrasty light in woodland. This one was a quick handheld shot on one of my spring workshops just to show what could be done in the testing conditions we were given.

Motivation for woodland photography is pretty low for me at this time of year, and I suspect I’m not the only one. This season I’m making a proper effort to shoot more infrared - it’s basically the only thing I enjoy right now until late summer. I’ll still watch the forecasts for fog or mist, but it’s rare down here in the southwest. How are the rest of you finding summer photography? What are you actually enjoying shooting at the moment?
