Autumn at Stourhead - Over the years
If you’re planning your autumn photography adventures for this year, then one of the best places to see the autumn colour is Stourheadbin Wiltshire, UK. National Trust Stourhead
I’ve been visiting here for years during the autumn and every year feels totally different there. Even 1 to 2 weeks apart can feel so different there. Some mornings you’ll have low rolling fog and mist giving a really moody feel, and other mornings you’ll have incredible sunrises.
You’ll tend to find that earlier in October, you’ll see the Virginia creeper bright red across the arch in the second picture. This typically shows up first before everything else comes out in full colour.
When taking photographs there, get there early and take your time. There’s so many beautiful angles and compositions to photograph, so you’ll come back with plenty of photos. If the morning light is nice, I’d suggest a walking round the path to the right along the water as the light will shine beautifully across the lake and through the autumn leaves. Avoid walking round left to begin with as you’ll have less flattering light in the morning.
