Had so much fun with this lot yesterday on their 3 hour shoot. This is a sneak peek I sent them today. After some time documenting their meeting and refreshing headshots for them, we had a lovely lunch together and then a long walk in the woods… I love my job!!! This was my 4th shoot for .insta, they are such a lovely company. Feels like spending the day with old friends. 💕

So you need to look more professional, but you don't fancy posing, forced smiles, generic brand imagery for your business? I love taking unposed, relaxed and informal photographs, as you can see from my family work over at . I know that in personal branding it's pretty important to make eye contact and to show yourself in the best light in order to create a relationship with potential clients and allow that all important know, like and trust to grow, but I also know that relaxed images often allow the real you to shine through, and you will feel more at ease. I like to strike a balance in my brand photography and we plan this well in our pre-shoot consultation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Here's the lovely an Acupuncturist and Naturopath in Bristol specialising in fertility. She does amazing work with women aged 35-42 trying to conceive. Valerie needed some images for her website and social media, to help her potential clients get to know her a little and feel more comfortable reaching out. We had a really lovely session in her home and just outside, capturing some relaxed portraits. I loved her really cute desk and her beautiful rose gold laptop. It's been a while since I posted on here as it's been a bit mad with one thing and another over the past few months as I'm sure many people have found. But this image nicely sums up how I am generally feeling at the moment. Finally a hint of freedom as the restrictions are slowly easing and life gradually gets back to some kind of normal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So this is ME! I harp on about the need to show yourself on your grid, and I haven't done this myself for a little while, so here I am! Me in my happy place on the beach, last summer. It's actually an image that I set up (my settings etc), but my husband pressed the button. And yes, it took 100 takes before he managed to take an image I was happy with,.. I am not an easy client haha!

I quite like this image as I feel like it represents my natural side, I don't like to set things up too much, I'm not keen on fake smiles, I love genuine, real moments. This is what I aim to capture in my family photography work (see ) and to a large extend I also aim for the same in my brand photography.

Although business, or brand photography does by it's nature need to be much more thought out than my documentary family photography, since you want to make sure you show your business in it's best light if you're investing in a brand photography package, and you want to make sure you come away with a good range of super useful imagery, I do also think that it's so lovely when I can photograph the more natural side of your business. You simply show me what your business is all about, we chat away and work through our list of shots that we've planned together, and you come away with a lovely record of our morning (or afternoon) together and a wonderful bank of imagery that you can reach for on a daily basis.

A brand shoot with me feels natural, less posed than you would expect, and aims to capture the genuine, real side to your business, and the person / people behind it, whilst pulling all the elements of your business together and showing you off, in your best light, to your ideal clients. ✨
Whilst we are restricted right now in what we can actually do in person, now is the perfect time to get a future date in the diary for a brand shoot and start off the planning process together, so that on the day you are comfortable with what to expect and it can all flow naturally and feel easy.

This image of that I took during her brand shoot in 2019 is still a favourite with me. I just love how her colours tied in together and really represented her ethos - quirky, creative & earthy. And she looks so chilled and like she is in her happy place in this image, despite being nervous. ✨

So I seem to have a theme going on with my last few posts - cups of tea (or coffee, or whatever your tipple is...gin?!!).

Whenever I do a brand shoot, I encourage my clients to gather up some accessories to photograph that represent them personally and also the ethos of their business.

I loved this tea set that chose to have photographed at a recent brand shoot, along with a beautiful box of Womankind tea. Now I'm quite a fan of herbals teas but I've never tried this one. I might have to give it a go. ❤️☕️
