What a start to 2026! 🚀

The last two months have been a complete whirlwind. From local County Championships to the elite stage of Aquatics GB, I have been poolside (and underwater!) capturing the incredible breadth of UK swimming.

There’s something so special about seeing the same grit in a young athlete’s first race as you do in a multi-time Olympian.
Whether it’s masters swimmers staying dedicated for decades or high-level athletes chasing world medals, there is a constant element: the energy to get in the pool!

Some of my Recent Highlights:
🏆 Arena League Finals | Birmingham
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Edinburgh International Meet
📸 A few Underwater photo sessions in-between
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Welsh Nationals | Swansea
🇬🇧 Aquatics GB | London
🏊‍♂️ Swim England South West Regionals | Millfield
And here is a selection of 10 images captured throughout!

Coming from a coaching and teaching background, being able to embrace and capture swimming at every level is something that feels like a true full-circle moment for me.
It’s more than just photography; it’s about witnessing and documenting the entire journey: from the first nervous races to the elite podiums.
I love the thought that someday, a swimmer after an international achievement will be able to look back at images from where it all started!

Having been on both sides of the pool deck, documenting this sport from every possible angle is a mission that truly defines my work.

Let’s keep diving in! 🏊🏼‍♂️

Late to the party with my highlights from the Aquatics GB Championships in London, but as they say: better late than never! 📸

I loved the buzz of the action, but I was even more drawn to the raw emotions on display.
The stakes were incredibly high, and while there was pure joy for some, there was heartbreak for others. That’s the reality of high-level sport, so many contenders, but only three spots on the podium.

Here are a few of my favourite frames from the week of racing. 🏊‍♂️✨

A special episode of "Road to the games" at the British champs 2026 in London.

As racing started morning for Dan, dive into his 100 Freestyle race and how it went for him qualifying for the B final later this afternoon!

Good luck Dan 💪

Episode 4 of "Road to the Games" is here! 🏊‍♂️

Sharing a look at Dan’s grind from Monday to Saturday: 8 sessions in the pool and 3 in the gym to reach this level.

As we head into the British Champs coming Tuesday in London, we’re diving into what it actually takes to swim at this standard.

Dan will kick things off in a week time on Thursday next with his 100m Freestyle race in the heats!

Success at this level is about mastering pace and technique while pushing through heavy fatigue. It’s the point where gym-built strength, agility, and coordination all come together.
It takes total focus to ensure everything clicks the moment the competition pressure hits. ⚡️

Make sure to watch the live stream to see him racing!

What an incredible 4 days in Swansea for the 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 National Championships!

From the excitement of the younger swimmers’ first taste of nationals to the seasoned athletes preping for the Aquatics GB Champs in London, the energy was unmatched. 🏊‍♂️✨

Here is a glimpse of the action we captured poolside.

Great few days at the Edinburgh International Meet, capturing some incredible swimming action! 🏊‍♂️📸
I headed up to follow journey toward the Games, filming his races and grabbing some behind-the-scenes content. Alongside Dan, it was great to capture the Welsh squad in action and witness so many world-class athletes putting their training to the test.

Huge thanks to for facilitating my accreditation with special shout-out to Lindsay and Kirsten for being so welcoming!

Also great to meet with and , hopefully, our paths cross again soon.

As you can imagine, I've got a mountain of shots to get through!

To kick things off, here’s one of my favourite series: Matt Richards in the 100m Freestyle final on Sunday evening.

__________

Technical bit for the gear heads here:
There isn't just one way to capture the action. Usually, I would stick to 1/1000s or faster to freeze everything (especially since the light at the Royal Commonwealth Pool is… a challenge to say the least!).
This time, I stuck to 1/500s. While that’s technically "slow" for elite swimming, I feel the slight motion blur really conveys Matt’s sheer power and speed.

Takeaway: Don't be afraid to play with your shutter speed and break the "rules." 🙌

Off for some well-deserved rest now.
In a culture of instant uploads, I’m choosing to slow down and focus on the selection and edit later. See you on the other side!

The Welsh Masters Short Course Championships in Newport wasn't about who finished first. It was about showing up.

There were 25m races so swimmers of every level could challenge themselves. There were skins races where swimmers got randomly picked, stood on the blocks not knowing when the start would come, and just… went for it.

And there were the 1500m freestyle races where I watched older swimmers dig deep, not for scholarships or rankings, but because they wanted to see what they had left in the tank!

After the event, someone from Australia messaged me. We'd captured photos of her mum and grandma racing together. She said it sorted her Christmas presents. That moment – three generations connected through this sport – that's what swimming can be about sometimes!

I've been in this sport my whole life. Swimmer, lifeguard, teacher, coach, photographer. I've seen swimming at every level. And what struck me most about masters swimming is how much perspective these athletes have. Some did it from their childhood, some were late starters, but they all come together for racing!

They go hard. But swimming doesn't consume them. It's a part of their lives. They cheer for competitors, they celebrate personal bests. They understand that the person in the next lane is their racing partner in a sport we all love.

This is what I like to capture, the multifaceted aspect of this sport. Not just fast times and perfect technique, but the why behind it all.

Same as these masters, I'm keeping swimming a part of my life. I need to find my time to jump back into racing soon.

Thanks to for running such a fun event and looking forward to the long course edition at the end of Feb next year!

ASMR underwater swimming photography part 2! 🎙

I invite you with me below the surface while I shoot at swimming training sessions.
See things from my perspective and hear what I hear when I am under 🤿📸

Guess how long I can stay underwater holding my breath?

Educated guesses in the comments 😉
