‘The Exhibition Continues Downstairs’ is fast approaching! Today we’d love to share with you the work of Stephanie Kelly…

While her family are from the East Midlands, Steph was actually born in the Middle East. Dubai, the Dordogne, Qatar, Rutland, North Cyprus, Oxfordshire, Abu Dhabi, Lincolnshire, Bristol and Los Angeles were all “home” for her at one point before the age of twenty-one.

Consequently, her work archives and explores her personal relationships and destabilised familial histories. She recently had her own solo show, ‘In Mindless Pursuit of Trivial Pleasures’ at the Mount Without exploring these themes with a BIG book to follow this summer.

She’s renowned for wearing long coats and prior to working at Photographique, she did a Masters in Liberal Arts, specialising in critical theory, visual culture and the history of art. Although if you asked her to explain her dissertation to you, she probably can’t anymore.

Back from the weekend break (hope you all had a blast) to introduce you to one of our newest members of the team!

Born in Northamptonshire, Elizabeth Blackie studied Photography at Falmouth University in Cornwall and settled in Bristol a year ago. Elizabeth stages scenes in the landscape that draw from personal narratives, memory and the subconscious. Working predominantly in monochrome and often using a flash after dark, she creates images that sit somewhere between reality and fiction. She is currently taking pictures of stones, fungi, caves, wire sculptures, her family, and herself.

We’re a wet lab 🥼 💦 🧪

Our Fuji 570, is a workhorse and with a little bit of love and attention and the occasional nudge still runs smooth after all these years. Producing dark room quality prints, from digital and film!

Using light sensitive paper and chemistry to process the image, its quality is simply unrivalled by dry lab options!

Prints start in at 40p per prints or get your whole film printed for £5 (includes proof digital scan) 🖨️

We’ve got the machines fired up and ready to process your films, so whether you were dipping down Worley weir, cooling down in the woods of Wales or raw do***ng the sun at I expect those apertures to be closed down for the crispiest of pics.

It’s a scorcher out there, hope you all enjoy your bank holidays and stay cool 😎 👌

We’ll be closed this coming Monday, however we’re open as usual today and tomorrow so pop by to stock up on film ready for the weekend, whatever you’re up to, whether you’re at or dangling your legs over the Harbourside !

Back open on Tuesday as usual for film drop off at the lab.

Tomorrow evening we will be closing at bedminster at 5pm and not 7pm as we shall all be heading up the hill to the Clifton gallery for the opening of the ‘Old Stone Crosses’ exhibition!

If you did need to drop off a film feel free to bring it along to the private view between 18:00 and 21:00!!

We are open as usual today and tomorrow but will be closed this Monday for the early May bank holiday! ☀️ 🍻

Our very own Stephanie Kelly is holding a month-long exhibition of writing and photography in the Crypts of The Mount Without.

‘In Mindless Pursuit of Trivial Pleasures’ is a diaristic account of Bristol (and beyond) from 2019–2026, as well as an ode to friendship and choosing one’s own family in the context of complex grief.

On Wednesday the 6th May (7–10pm), the exhibition will host a special one-night fundraiser and book launch with live music from Loam, .wav

The event will be fundraising for and and is being run in collaboration with .thread a community-centred charity spotlighting Bristol creatives
