Hello! It's today and I've finally finished the window collage from two weeks ago. Seems very apt to share it with you all today with some close ups of some of the more abstract bits. It's got a lot of gaps and wobbly bits, just like me.
This process took from 11 am to 4 pm (with a lunch break of course!) And it's the biggest cyanotype I've ever made- 110cm by 45cm. I couldn't have asked for a better day to create it and right at the end of summer too when the sunlight is getting weaker. The team of volunteers at St Andrews were so lovely and supportive, and it might be that I'll sell prints there so they can make some funds to keep the building going.

Looking through the photos of backlit large scale phytograms I took a few weeks ago with the help of camera. This one is of a pampas grass. I've got a fresh one ready to go again in the kitchen but just haven't found the time to make another print. The second image is a lith print using the same phytogram.
This was one of my first large scale phytograms, when I still didn't really understand the process and just thought I'd give it a go. I remember I was on a zoom call with my family at the time and they were the first to see the result of my experiment.
One day I'd love to display all of my large scale prints together on light boxes, an illuminated jungle.

Boy oh boy am I pooped! Achieved producing an idea into a physical reality today at St Andrew's in for their . This first photo is a new technique I found which made some of the process of maintaining pressure on the stained glass a bit easier- sitting with my back to the window! It's like some new form of pilates. My body is gonna hate me tomorrow!

[ID: photo 1, a selfie of me sat in a stained glass window with a board behind my head. Photo 2, the view out of the entrance of the church into the graveyard, framed by the stone doorway. Photo 3, a piece of cyanotype paper caught in a nook of the stained glass window with sun shining through it. Photo 4, cyanotype prints from the stained glass window drying in a tray with sunlight shining on them. Photo 5, a washing line of cyanotype prints drying on a piece of string hung from the branches of a tree in the graveyard with sunshine. Photo 6, the interior of the entranceway to the church where I was sitting with two pillows, a chalk board with my name on it and a flower arrangement in the corner. Photo 7, dried cyanotypes that have curled placed on a board beneath a larger stained glass window. Photo 8, the cyanotype prints laid out in order to illustrate the whole stained glass window I was working on in the entranceway.]

Today is my Dad's 60th birthday. Here's some images taken by for of the Gameboy camera images I discovered recently, and a large piece I made for my BA at of everything he had in his pockets when he died. The Gameboy images got picked up for the Small File Photo Festival earlier this year. A delightful surprise and one that my Dad would have been very excited about.
You can read my story about my grief and creativity over on the Projecting Grief website, written by .
I've been meaning to make something more with these images but this year has flown by. I feel like I'm at a good place with my grief now after years of therapy and my creative outlets helping me process. Hoping others out there can find peace with their grief too 💖

So yesterday I was at trying out one of their windows for cyanotypes. It was to the right as you go in through the accessible doorway, a memorial piece. I was up that trusty ladder (pictured last) for over an hour making these. It didn't start well; my first print came out blank and so did the first triptych I tried. I've learnt a lot from doing this, mostly that a pillow for my knees is essential! I like how the face has come out but I hadn't considered how much the shadows would come out from the fencing on the outside. Still, I'm happy I got some prints from it and feel more prepped for my stint at St Andrews in on the 15th. Come along if you're in the area!

[Description: images one 1 to 6 show cyanotype prints. 1 is of a painted stained glass face, 2 is the same image zoomed out. 3 is of a painted sheep grazing, and 4 is the full picture of the sheep grazing, one sitting with it's back to us and the bottom of someone's robes with a sandled foot peeking out. 5 is the face on a flagstone with moss surrounding the print. 6 is showing the sheep images in a white tray freshly washed. 7 is a section of the original stained glass window of the sheep. 8 is a photo of the orange and yellow ladder sat underneath the stained glass window in the church]
